Straight Rights To The Body - Knockouts

I honesty cant think of this shot ever knocking anybody out

 

Didn't Mayweather knock out Sharmba Mitchell with a straight right to the body? I could be mistaken but I think he did.

The punch is quite punishing but its not that KO punch or KD punch but i have seen it used in like a finishing combo

 

Virgil Hill was knocked out by Roy Jones by a right to the body.

Eric morales knocked out Daniel Zaragoza with a straight right to the body i believe.

 

Pavlik KO'd some bum on his pro debut with a straight right to the solar plexus.

 

I thought it was a righthand. Just watched it, I guess it could be classified as a looping straight right. It was too far away to be a hook.

 

Russ, I know you remember this as an authentic example of a single punch knockout, but it was such an exquisite kill that I think it merits revisitation for those who missed our previous exchange about it.

Craig Payne flattened Rocky Sekorsi with one of the longest straight rights I've ever seen, scrunching Sekorki's face up in agony (like Ganigan's was when Arguello finished him), and dropping him for the full count. (Ignore boxwreck's recording of this as a mere TKO. I was viewing it live, with Al Albert and Sean O'Grady providing commentary.)

Sekorski was facing the camera, circling the perimeter of the ring with his hands down, seemingly too far away for Payne to connect, when Craig bent over from center ring and lashed out with it. This wasn't a powerfully driving right, but the timing and placement were absolutely perfect. The tail end of the punch flicked up into Rocky's solar plexus just as he was exhaling, driving all the breath completely out of him, and he collapsed in totally helpless paralysis.

When a discussion of "perfect" individual punches is discussed, I think the sublime nature of Payne's elegant dispatch of Sekorski deserves some mention.
