Pavlick beat the number one guy, but then what? no sturm, no abraham. the guys resume is poor. and please do not give him credit for challenging b-hop, he fought hopkins was past it after his performance against calzaghe. he wanted a good name on his resume and got fukin exposed. even the williams fight, he's fighting a pissing welterweight! pavlick is not a great champion. taylor got stick for his title reign so he dint beat the best of champions to start with, he then rematched taylor who he'd just sparked out, and fought two wholly **** challengers and tried beating on an old man! he turned down super six, and a fight with sturm in favour of williams! saying that i fully expect williams to win, like most boxing fans i tend to forget quintana made williams look like an amateur, but i'll look past that and favour a williams win. seriously, pavlick is one of the worst champions today
If you don't agree at the time that he beat Miranda - that Miranda was regarded as the next best things in the Middleweight Division and many picked Miranda to win that fight - then you're just fishing for an arguement. Then after the Taylor fight - the only person of name left in the Middleweight Division was Winky Wright. They were unable to put the fight with AA or Sturm together - but that's not his fault.
He was the first guy to knock out Bronko McKart. Bronko was a pretty damn good fighter. Gave winky troubles at times..
And that means what? Who broke his jaw? AA damn sure didn't get in the ring like that. He gave an Undefeated Middleweight Champ hell. He lost the fight - but wasn't beaten. He gained more exposure from that fight than any of his loses.
Miranda hasn't done anything. Has never beaten anyone important or proven himself. He is a nobody. A gatekeeper.
Now I have to agree with you on that point - but you're talking about right now. We're talking about back then - there's a difference. At the time he beat Miranda - do you not agree that Miranda was considered one of the better Middleweights? Most had him within the top five.
like all champs b4 him he wen thorugh the division fighting a string of no hopers in his first 10-15 fights then started to feed on top 100 MW in about his 20th fight then fought some former Champs from a division south already in their twilight years(note the way he beat those champs is what counts he by KO) then beat a few rising legit contender i.e., Zuniga and Zertuche, Thne went on to Obliterate the Fearsome KO artist at the time Miranda who was being lined up to fight JT in a super fight at 160. after he Demolsidhed miranda HE left Taylor Slumped over in a corner . fought a return fight and outboxed him. fought his MAndo won by KO went up in weight foguth the Ledgend B-hop got A lesson and came bak to Spank Rubio another MAndo. NOW getting ready for Williams a Top 10 P4p that got a reach an slight height advantage. hmm. sound like the way a bunch of fighters b4 him came up. what the big deal?
Pavlik has done what he's suppose to do - we can't blame him for anything other than the Bhop lost. He beats whom ever his Promoter puts up (with the exception of Hopkins) - so what more can he do. I honestly think he's done the best he can - with what he's given. Is it his fault he didn't get the AA or Sturm fight? If anything - they say he damn near begged for the P. Williams fight - so give the man some credit for at least doing that. And Matt - I was just trying to point out the fact that Miranda was beasting at the time they fought - so he should always get extra credit for that win. Not many wanted to fight him - **** - Taylor fought Ouma and Spink instead of Miranda - so that tells you a little something about what they thought of him.
He's beaten Taylor twice convincingly. That's enough to know he's a world class fighter. Beyond that? Not a huge amount, he's beaten some decent if limited opponents in Miranda, Zuniga and Zertuche, I'd put them in that order. And the thing is, he beat them well. What is wrong with that? I don't see that any of the super six are lightyears ahead of what he has achieved, and no middleweight has done any more.
