Besides Taylor, who has Pavlik beaten of note?

He beat some good conetnders or fringe contenders on his way up,good resume IMO.

Zuniga,McKart,Zertuche,Miranda,Rubio(yes,he was ranked in the top 10) are all good names.

Excellent points as always, my friend, and to just add a little fact to your lay out there...Pavlik was brought along at the "right" pace to learn and get different styles under his belt, and is right NOW only 27 years old. Time is on his side to make a pretty decent resume.:good

 

things peopel got tto remeber is KP is still young and has 36 fiht under his belt. at 27 he still has a lot of time left and he's vcoming along great 1 loss doesn't kell a fight and when you lose to a ledgend it call a learning experience. **** what he learned in that fight would take a trainer 5 + years to teach to a fighter. KP will come along fine.

 

In the beginning people were excited about Mirandas power, but he was always overrated to me. Too, too slow.

 

I suspect that if the original poster wanted real truth and fact answers, he'd have done his own research. However, since I am home alone in the rain, and board, I'll address the question.

Zuniga: This fight gave KP the chance to fight for the vacant NABF title. Historically, the NABF title has been a traditional stepping stone to a WBC title shot. Pavlik would have been a damn fool to turn this fight down.

McKart: Following a 9 month lay off due to career threatening hand surgery Pavlik made his first deffense of the NABF title. He could have taken an easier, softer opponent, but chose a double tough southpaw with tons of big fight experience. McKart was in the midst of a serious comeback effort, and after Pavlik he went on to beat Ornales, and fought a draw with Marquez only months before Marquez beat Lorenzo, and got his shot at Abraham.

Zertuche: Pavlik did not choose Zertuche. This was a WBC title eliminator between the #1 and #3 ranked contenders. The double tough Mexican, a former olympian, had never been off his feet and he had fought big punchers.

Miranda: Even though Kelly had already won a legit title eliminator, HBO got involved. They had their sights set on making Miranda a big star, and chose Kelly to make Edison look good.

Taylor: the undefeated, undisputed middleweight champion of the world: the man who dethroned Hopkins who was an all time great middleweight.

Taylor: This 2nd fight was a contractually obligated rematch at 166 pound.

Hopkins: there were no decent opponents available at 160, and no mandatory set. Abraham was busy with Marquez, and Rubio was the presumed mandatory, but he was not yet the "official" mandatory. Sturm didn't want none, and Williams backed out. Kelly could have fought Rubio on a Top Rank PPV, but he turned that down, and said yes to Hopkins.

Rubio: Marco won a legit title eliminator. Everybody likes to **** on Rubio, but the man had a record of 44-4 with 37 KO's. He holds wins over Ornales, Zertuche, and Brewer. Not great, but mandos rarely are. Funny how everyone liked this for a come back fight, but now everyone shits on KP for disposing of his ****ING MANDATORY!!

Next up: Paul Williams, a guy who is supposedly "the most feared man in boxing." KP by KO, and afterward the haters will say all KP did was beat an over rated welterweight.

 

Pavlik has a way of short circuiting careers. Some of these guys were more highly regarded before they saw the ghost.
