DLH wasn't at welter
the only career welter on the list that he fought at welter is Baldomir
Im assuming the thread is intented to be a joke of sorts

The best thing that could have happened to Mayweather was to lose the first Castillo fight, or more recently the DLH fight on the judges cards.

That way he wouldn't be so anal about defending his '0' and would actually try and establish a legacy the good old fashion way - fighting the best fighters out there.

If he lost those two fights and even lost a fight to Winky, whilst beating the likes of Cotto, Margarito and Pac (instead of Baldomir, Judah and Marquez), he'd rate higher in my estimations than what he does now.

all time?not yet in the top 10. Even Roberto Duran who only fought Leonard who was great at welterweight ranks higher just because Duran got the win and fought a great 2 times here. Fact is Duran got the win because Ray was inexperienced and fought the wrong fight, but regardless fighting and beating a great is what gets a guy ranking or fighting a legendary champion and winning the title. You cannot handpick smaller guys and be ranked.

Why I don't rate him nearly as highly as everyone else is due to the fact that he is clearly head and shoulders above anyone else in the fight game right now (Pacquiao aside, who is just too small to beat Mayweather) and has still chosen to take the easiest route. I'm on the same page re: Floyd.

To save typing, a week ago I posted:

His last three fights were against smaller guys (Hatton, Marquez), or guys at the end of their careers (Oscar and JMM), or both (JMM).

I'm not saying he shouldn't have fought them (actually, I am in regards to JMM) but he should have fought OTHER fights as well. He could easily have squeezed in Cotto and Margarito as well in that period, and perhaps even williams and Mosley.

He had the goods to beat all of them. Mosley would have had the best chance, but again, Floyd would probably have prevailed.

If he fights Shane now, it's a bit late in Shane's career for him to get full credit.

Instead, he winds up fighting a guy who was clearly much smaller.

And while he clearly showed his skills, he did not show much balls.

Even tonight, he should have had the KO, but he was too cautious to take the necessary risks to finish off JMM, who was there for the taking almost anytime after round 6.

Pac faces Oscar, Hatton nd now Cotto. These are all risky efforts for him.

(Sure, with hindsight, we can say Oscar was weight drained and Hatton was small and shot, but Pac took the risk.)

And JMM stepped up to Floyd, and came to win.

Floyd,talented as he is, is missing the fights that would define him.

Oscar and Shane are both less talented, but if all three careers were to end now, both would outrank Floyd in terms of greatness.

Their resumes are simply better.

Calzaghe's career suffers from a lack of great opponents, but he either fought or tried to fight whoever was there.

Same for RJJ. There just wasn't any serious opponents there for him that he didn't fight. (Save DM, and in that case, they avoided each other).

Floyd passed on Shane, Margo, Cotto, Williams and others.

He has a very decent resume, but it could have been so much better. He still has time to rectify the situation, but given his choice of comeback (fighting a little guy at a catchweight and then simply ignoring the agreed weight limit and ignoring questions as to why), it doesn't look like he wants to take the risks necessary for greatness.

I have no doubt he can beat PAc, if and when they meet.

I don't expect they will.

But he needs to beat some prime great fighters at 147 and even 154.

And he needs to start working on growing a set.

He's one of the three or four best ever pure naturally talented boxers.

But his legacy is probably not going to place him in the top 20 in terms of greatness.

And I'm a fan of Pac and I don't care much for Floyd.

Until they DO fight, Pac is greater in the lb4 lb category, and whether they fight or not, I expect Pac will rank higher on most alltime great lists.

He has shown balls and taken risks, two things Floyd has failed to do.

Man you have an agenda against Duran. What does that have to do with this? And why is that "Fact"? Its just your opinion.

You are consistently glass half full when it comes to him...Admittedly Im the other way but I dont bring Duran often into non-duran threads.

JMM, Hatton and ODLH are not WELTERS . . . Floyd was also Mitchelle's only second fight at 147 . . . so that leave Baldo and Zab as the refference fighters at 147.

I think Mosley, Cotto, Margarito and Cintron all rank higher than Floyd in terms of résumé at welterweight.

Floyd also fought Oscar at jr middle so it doesn't count at all.
