Dong Hyun Kim had to pull out due to injury, now it looks like this fight will happen instead. Swick vs Hardy is better fight (and I like DHK) but i'm not sure about winner getting GSP. Whoever wins, will need to win impressively. http://mma.fanhouse.com/2009/09/28/mike-swick-vs-dan-hardy-in-the-works-for-title-shot-against-gsp/
Nice! Hardy is coming up fast. Although, even if he should beat Swick I'm not sure throwing him in against GSP is the best option (from his and fan's of his point of view). Still, will be a tough test for him. Swick's speed and length pose problems for everyone, especially if you're a striker. I like Hardy and I think his approach to MMA is great. He's not content to just train in the UK where, let's be honest, the standards for gyms/training etc. are not quite up to the standards of say the USA or Brazil. He's willing to travel to the US to train at Xtreme Couture and with Eddie Bravo to improve other aspects of his game. Really hope he does well!!
Swick will be a better elite gatekeeper than Hardy. Swick actually semi impresses me, nonetheless, I dont think he can hang with an Alves and beating GSP is a just a dream. Kinda sucks for Swick doesn't it.
Good fight but both guys shouldnt be anywhere near a title shot. How come in the UFC, you can get a title shot without actually beating a top 5 opponent? Hardys best win is a close decision with an old Marcus Davis.
What a lot of absolute ****. Have you been over to see the gyms in the U.K.? Jackson obviously rates them good enough.
What, you think gyms like London Shootfighters, Rough House or Wolfslair are at the same level as places like AKA, ATT or Xtreme Couture? I mean maybe the UK can compete when it comes to striking, but for maybe BJJ and wrestling especially, we're just not at that level yet. The sport is still growing in this country at the moment. It's not nearly as big as it is in America so it's natural that their facilities/gyms will be better. As for Jackson, I doubt he gave a **** about whether the gym was amazing or not. Obviously the Wolfslair is a decent gym, but I reckon he went there more because him and Bisping are mates.
You make a solid point man but you really gotta take a deeper look at this. GSP has basically cleaned out the entire Welterweight divison Hughes,Serra,Parysian,Fitch,Alves,Koscheck are the UFCs top contenders or guys who have beat him but he has smashed them all and to the point of where a rematch would never be neccessary. GSP isnt willing to go to 185 so you gotta find fights so go down slightly and you find Mike Swick who is 9-1 in the UFC and 4-0 at 170 while Dan Hardy is 3-0 so **** match em up and maybe you get an impressive performence. The only guy besides that maybe would be Anthony Johnson which im not sure what there doing with hes matched up agianst Yoshida now which baffles me.
I hope Hardy drops some bombs on Swick. I'm not sold on that guy yet - and I don't see either one being ready for GSP yet.
Hardy has repeatedly stated that he's not ready for (who he perceives to be) the best three welterweights in the UFC: GSP, Fitch & Alves (who of course has since moved up to middleweight). About five months ago he claimed he wouldn't be ready for approximately 18-20 months, so if he gets a shot at GSP any earlier you'll know the powers that be are rushing him.
It was funny when GSP replied to something Hardy said : He looks like the boy who do my hamburger at mcdonalds, in his great accent. ahaha
