SOURCE: Klitschko Gained What Mayweather Clamors For

    I love threads like this...;)

"The big difference between Klitschko-Arreola and Mayweather-Marquez is how the winners have been received after their respective one-sided victories. The winners were both dominant and could do whatever they wanted with their opponent, but for different reasons. And because of those reasons Mayweather came away from his showing getting tons of backlash. Klitschko is coming away from his performance and is getting more respect and no backlash.

Most boxing fans including the most ardent Mayweather fans realize and accept that Floyd hand picked Marquez and not only skipped over the top contenders in his respective division, but the entire division. He fought the lightweight champion. Going by that boxing history really missed out on not seeing lightweight champ Alexis Arguello fight welterweight champ Sugar Ray Leonard when both ruled their weight divisions in the early eighties. As if Leonard would've justified his greatness by beating Arguello.

Mayweather controlled every aspect of his bout with Marquez from opponent, weight, age, size, speed, power and physical strength to the point that the people who paid to see the fight felt duped for buying what was basically a set-up. Klitschko on the other hand didn't hand pick Arreola. He fought an undefeated number-one contender who weighed the same as he did and is ten years younger. And he fought him in his back yard in front of a hostile crowd. Sure, Klitschko had much more experience, but Arreola being a heavyweight who can punch was a bigger threat to Klitschko than Marquez ever was to Mayweather. Some of that is due to Mayweather being such a fantastic technician and marksman, but a lot of it was Marquez being just too small. He would've lost to any one of the other top welterweights in the division just as one-sidedly.

In other words Klitschko had no manufactured advantages other than his experience and skill set, and that's in play every time two fighters get in the ring. Klitschko won because of those two reasons and nothing else. He fought a great fight tactically by moving and jabbing along with tying up Arreola and disrupting any chance he had to exchange with him.

In the aftermath of his fight with Cris Arreola, Vitali Klitschko has gained respect and admiration from anyone who saw the fight. He's also elevated his stature in the boxing community. One thing is for sure, Vitali has continually fought the best available opposition and the same applies to his brother Wladimir. And that's all that can be asked of any fighter. No, Vitali Klitschko isn't undefeated like Mayweather is, but there are less questions hovering over him than there are Mayweather. We've seen Klitschko in with an all-time great like Lennox Lewis and he's proved that he deserves to be included amongst the best heavyweights that have come along in the last 30 years.

Klitschkos fight everyone available to fight, it's not their problem the division is poor, might as well give them credit for beating all their mandatories and opponents. It's hard to have a great record when the division is like this, still those guys fight everyone available and that CAN'T be denied.

For christ sake Vitali has defended his title twice once against an already fading Danny Williams and an obese Chris Arreola. To win the titel he beat a semi retired fat golfer the first time round and then another overwieght hype job in Sam Peter.

THAT IS IT !!!!! 2 title fights against shite , and two defences against shite !

just becasue you domniate an appalling division doesnt make you some kind of super human.

Man, when I first started posting here there was some good stuff discussed and it was clear most new what they were talking about , but now ................................

Klits greater than PBF coz I can't imagine them doing something like what Floyd did to JMM (quoted from the scene):

"There has been some fallout from Mayweather weighing in at 146 for his fight with Marquez, especially because of the way things went down the week of the fight. All Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe and Schaefer would ever say during the promotion was that it was a welterweight fight, meaning a 147-pound limit.

But it was well-known the catch-weight agreed upon was 144. Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, confirmed Wednesday that the day of the weigh-in Mayweather told him he wanted to change the number on the bout agreement to 147 because he would not be able to make 144.

Kizer said that was fine as long as Marquez agreed. He said once Marquez arrived, he presented him with the change proposed by Mayweather.

"I asked Juan, 'Are you OK with it?' " Kizer said. "He said, 'Definitely,' "

From that end, everything done was above board. Schaefer said Marquez was not thrown under the bus by Golden Boy, either. In other words, Marquez was already at a disadvantage never having fought at higher than 135. So why let your fighter go into a fight at an even bigger disadvantage by letting Mayweather come in any heavier?"

The Klits go underrated in p4p lists because there seems to be an unwritten rule not to include them. I mean even Lewis didnt get the high in p4p lists yet he is now in many people's top 10 ATG heavy lists. Were the other guys ranked ahead of him all future top 10 ATG heavies in their division?
    Some were and some werent.

The Klits are fighting the best in their division and coming off with dominant wins. Both deserve to be in the top 10 p4p lists.

Vitali fought 3 guys in the last year. They were all the best in his division, he fought the best guys that he possibly could given the situation.

PBFs last 3 fights were over the course of 2-3 years and he didnt fight the best he possibly could.

I dont think Vitali should be ahead of him, but he damn sure should be on the top ten.

It is rather difficult for a HW to get into the P4P list. Historically, it had been done, and Wlad is currently #10 of the RING P4P list.

I think nobody denies Vitali is very fast and slick for a 38yo/252lbs fighter. But he was several inches taller than Arreola, and next to nobody expected Arreola to last beyond round 8. He did look he could go the final rounds, but for his own health it was better to stop it.

JMM is technically better than Arreola. But a LW champion should have better tech/speed skills than a HW contender.

Both fights were boxing lessons to school the next generations, boring or not.

 Apples vs Oranges.....comparisons like that will have you making confused and misguided comments like this.

The Klits "D" are very good, given the kind of opposition they are fighting against. But the HW division isn't overwhelming with actual skilled and technically solid opposition. Big men who rely on brute strenght, power and size lack in the areas of Skill, craft and ring savvy.

At the lower weights they are operating on a higher level of skills which make it even more impressive to think Floyd can dominate anther quality fighter like JMM....although put into perspective JMM was smaller, older and a lot slower with the added weight, but he showcased his ability like he was suppose to do...as was Vit against Chris.

Even with Klits fighting the BEST in their division the opposition is far less in the categories of talent, skills and overall ability.
