Haha, it's like he actually is approving in that pic in your avatar. Junior Witter had his moments. A lot of WBO titlists suffered this way in the late 90s and onwards. Though it depends what is really being considered here. The likes of Daniel Santos, Margarito and Grigoriab secured alphabet straps but for years it seemed their burden in terms of fighting the top dogs they deserved to be. Margarito finally got his fights though. It's subjective and we should refrain from saying all of such men were ducked, as we know, the likes of Ottke etc i don't think really tried to get fights with top rivals too much.
Poor examples, Young got to fight ALi/Foreman/Shavers/Norton, Hagler got his shot and big fights, Laing would have got big fights after Duran but went on a year long **** up in Jamaica - his manager couldnt contact him
I don't really know the details or the insides and outs of the politics, but was Larry Holmes considered a member throughout some of the 70s?
But who needed Young? He was terribly boring to watch, but good enough to upset the very best, and even if you beat him, you probably would look bad doing it; thus a classic example of who needs him? Laing was flaky and unreliable, if you beat him, you would probably get little credit, but you may have the misfortune of meeting him on a good day, where he could make even the best suffer. Who needed that?
I don't know if he's avoided or anything, as it's been about 2 years since i've actually seen him fight, but has anyone seen Ajose Olusegun fight? I reckon he's quality.
dangerous don lee conqueror of tony sibson was avoided for a while. when michael watson beat lee i thought watson would have a bright future..........
Bob Stallings Gained wins other Big Mac Foster, Earnie Shavers and Al blue Lewis But you got no credit for beating him, so i think he got avoided for awhile
