Why do PBF fans have to say it's either Defense or "Trade Punches"???! There have been many fighters who had the athleticism to be all defense liek SRL, but they went into the ring with a Warrior mentallity most of the time. They used their defensive skill, but with the objective to set something up, and they would take risks to hurt or KO their opponent. I'm not saying that is the only way fighters should fight, but thse are the fighters that get the most respect. Hearns, Leonard, Robinson, Taylor, DLH, Morales, Barrera, Lopez and on and on .... It becomes quite dull when your 95% defense and 5% offense like Mayweather. Imagine Paulie vs Mayweather, now look at Hagler vs Hearns. Which one would you rather watch?
I have to just co-sign the general opinion that this is the DUMBEST THREAD OF THE WEEK. If you were in a fight sir and you could beat up your opponent while not taking punishment yourself. Wouldnt that be the preferred option. LMFAO
Floyd has never lost and you want him to get hit more, your ****ing kidding me!!! please give up boxing do your self a favor.
So I doubt you saw the Corley fight then when Mayweather walked down the bigger man for most of the fight pressing for a KO. Lets be honest to 95% doesnt win boxing matches. Stopped being so biased and bring some kind of balance to your thinking please.
You have named 3 elite fighters, and Paulie, in that sentence. Perhaps your comparison is unfair, and really ****ing dumb?
Wow........Maybe when Floyd was moving up from 135 to jnr welterweight to fight him. Just a possibility.
Since it was Floyd's first fight moving up from 135, and Corley had been fighting at 140 or occasionally higher for his entire career?
And?just cause he was moving up it doesnt necessarily mean that hes smaller and time has proved that Floyd is taller than him and Corley still fights at 140 after all these years while Floyd is at 147 and probably entered the ring against JMM close to 160.
Unless Floyd has a time machine, and used it to fight Corley in 2004, none of this means anything. 5 years ago Floyd was a smaller guy. Corley still fights at 140 because he'd get smashed at higher weights. Floyd put on muscle and moved up. That's like saying that RJJ spent his career beating up smaller men because he was really a Heavyweight.
OH STFU! You could replace them with Gatti vs Ward and Paulie vs PBF if it makes you happy. Hell, Whiatker vs Floyd compared to Hagler vs Hearns or Castillo vs Corrales or even Vargas vs DLH. Just accept the point I'm making *****.
well he weighed in at 140 the same as Corley but he was taller and had bigger reach but by your logic he was the smaller man. he was so small that three fights later he moved up to WW.
he got the name pretty boy because he was hard to hit the am's.i just think its his style to hit and not get hit and thats it.when he does get hit he has taken it well.but i think he prides himself on fighting the perfect fight.meaning hit and not getting hit.
They could have been equal in size, but it wouldn't surprise me if Floyd was bigger. What I mean is Corley and Cotto fought at 140. The night of the fight, Corley weighed 140. I wouldn't be surprised is Mayweather was weighing in at 140+ when he fought at LW.
