all willie needs is the chance and im sure it will come soon. i certainly dont want to sound disrespectful to any lightweights in the country when i say willie would beat them all, thats simply my opinion

Willie went for the WBU because it was the only door open to him, what's so hard to understand about that?

Anyway deserves a chance just as much as any of the guys mentioned above and I'd love to see him get it.

its just a belt to keep himk busy, surely?

but yeah, the loser fighting Limond would be good, but certainly not the winner!

i wouldnt look too much in to that rob, limond has beaten and stopped guys that has stopped castle.

  7. I backed u:good, billy nelson and hands of stone killed us.

Billy whilst i agree limmond is a very talented boxer and i could only dream of having his talent, murray is a step above imo. murray needs to fight mezzche and romanov the make a step towards world honours if he progresses. I feel limmond should be given more chances than he has had, the wbu belt is a joke, limmond holds a world title technically when he hasnt even won the british title.... Just goes to show that wbu belt means **** all, and before billy nelson slags my post off, please remember im giving limmond credit and only discrediting the integrity of the wbu belt...

I reckon limmond and lawton for eliminator of british title, reason being lawton england champ and limmond wbu, then winner of murray v thaxton fight for euro honours and loser fight for british belt with winner of liimond v lawton. that will clear it up abit.

far from it mate,i think you understand the situation willie as been placed, the willie limond that fought amir would have beaten any of john murrys title challengers imo,yes i think john will go on to the euro level and do well.

  9. thanks for reading my post and understanding it bill. my next rant is about my mate martin gethin. why the **** cant the lad get a fight with lawton again, he said to me the other day hes trying to keep his focus but its extremely difficult when you cant get motivating fights. limmond is a step above gethin but if its hard for limmond to get a decent payday and big fight then god knows how gethin is gonna get 1. problem with british fans are we dont support the domestic fighters enough, we should demand more coverage of their fights from sky instead of sky picks, we should get to vote for fights or something. to many good domestic fighters slip under the radar and then lose their passion. ala carl johansenn, the lad had one of the best fights ive seen against kevin mitchell and hes not been around since a decnt fight and payday would surely turn his head. but instead if he fancies a comeback hell have to fight for low pay and a low rent boxer. i could bang my head against the wall sometimes. Also fans place to much empahisis on a fighters loss, have in mind man utd can lose to chelsea 1 game and win the next, theyre alowed to pick up from where they left off still to the same popularity, but a fighter is sent to lurk in the shadows for a few months, what the **** is that about. thoughts?

Limond gave up the wbu weeks ago as far as i know, i look at some of the guys who has fought for the british or commonwealth and i think limond has as good a case as them to fight for domestic titles, scott lawton who i think is not a bad fighter but has lost 3 times for british and commonwealth combined, so i think hes had his chance, gary buckland has a good case for a shot at those titles, but then again so does a few boxers in the top 10, but we all know politics rule the sport.

Wille Limond is a talented fighter and deffinetly deserves a shot at the British title, only when Murray goes onto European then world class because he is to good for all the domestic lightweights in the country at the minute and he needs stepping up badly, Maybe then Limond can clean up the domestic scene.

No offence Billy mate, but every time you talk about Limond on here you always bang on about the Khan fight, like Willie did it all cos he floored Khan.

Dont get me wrong, Willie did well on the night putting a young Khan firmly on his arse & was the unlucky victim of a long count.

However, taking luck out of the equation for now, the fight went on & Limond got stopped soon afterwards. Thats the bold facts, & I think you & Willie himself act like Limond has achieved it all, & could retire on that Khan knockdown.
Well I think its the wrong attitude to have. For instance, an old Gomez put Khan on his arse afterwards. That kinda takes away from Limonds performance nowadays if you ask me.

Trouble is, you & Willie seem content to live off the Khan knockdown, but Limond is better than that. I have always said so here.

The way Limonds career has went since that Khan fight is a bit of a disgrace if you ask me. Since that fight Khan has went onwards & upwards, & is a much better fighter than the Khan who faced Limond.

Limond meanwhile has just went stale, content to fight once or twice a year defending a joke of a title like he can sit back & smoke a cigar when looking at his stats on Boxrec.

I know my stance has lost me a lot of friends on here, but who cares. Its all about opinions, & this is my opinion.

Your a good guy Billy but PLEASE! Stop talking about the Khan fight like Limond has done it all. Cos when I look at boxrec, I just see a red L beside his name after that fight... sadly enough.

Limond did well, lost the fight & has done nothing of note since, & thats the bold truth, no matter what spin anyone puts on it.

    Joost my upinyun.

Dunky a know Wullie, know him quite well, he trains twice a day 6 days a week and works as a joiner, so dont think for a second that hes content sitting back smoking a cigar, and believe me he doesnt think hes done it coz he put khan down, i asked him about the fight a while back and he says he doesnt give a **** about the fight with khan and at the end of the day khan won, that was his exact words, so im thinking youve got the wrong impression here mate.

Maybe I have, I would LOVE for Limond to prove me wrong. However, since hes pallied about with Hatton, Limond has been happy to rest on his laurels & fanny about with the WBU title after the Khan fight. A criminal waste of talent if you ask me.

It was all well & good for hatton to recommend the WBU title to Limond, but Hatton can look at his trophy cabinet & retire with a cigar in his mouth, cos he used the WBU as a stepping stone. Trouble with Limond is that hes used the WBU title to retire on, BIG mistake. Terrible mistake even.
Look. I met Limond once, & I loved the guy. You couldnt meet a nicer or better person. My whole anger on this subject is based on my assumption that one of my favourite fighters has wasted his career, & as a huge fan of scottish boxing we dont have too many fighters with Limonds talent.

Look, my all time favourite fighter Scotty Harrison sits in a prison cell, when he could have been the best scottish fighter ever. The Marquez fight was offered, & it fell through.
Now I see another of my favourite fighters in Willie Limond coast to the end of his career saying he only wants to fight twice a year at most, defending a WBU strap. Its a different situation from Scottys, but still the same if you know what I mean.
Two fine scottish fighters wasting their talent in different ways.

I dont want to die only seeing one scottish fighter in a superfight(Jacobs v Whittaker) & THATS why I am so vocal on this subject. I aint getting any younger, & I want to see scottish fighters realising their potential as much as possible.

Its not a bad thing, even if people want to paint me as the villain for speaking my mind. I cant help it, Im just too passionate about scottish boxing.
& if that makes me a bad guy? Then guilty as charged, throw the book at me.

thing is dunky Wullie doesnt want to just fight twice a year, hes hardly been out the gym this year and hes only had 2 fights, and he gave up that wbu belt weeks ago, me as a person and a pal to him am gutted for him i wish he had some of the chances harrison had, am not saying he was as good as harrison altho you would pay to see their sparring sessions top drawer stuff, but harrison threw it away, just unfortunate wullie came up against 2 good fighters in arthur and khan , he was telling me its hard for him to get fights just now, dont get me wrong am gutted for harrison as well i met him quite a few times and watched him train, i am a fan of his. but wullies my mate and i just want to see him get good fights, im maybe being biased but thats just me haha
