I never knew Tyson had such a big impact on Vitali Klitschko.

He also talks a bit about the cut inflicted by Lewis:

The interview is a good read for everyone.
The bit about growing up in Kiev during the Chernobyl accident is also interesting.

Vitali was going to fight Tyson, but Danny Williams ruined the event.

Yes and unfortunately Tyson couldn't get his career on track to be in line for a title shot again.

I always enjoyed a Tyson fight in Tyson's prime.

It's funny how Mike likes the Klitschkos, especially Vitali. Perhaps he sees the same deadly beast ready to punish in his eyes? Personally I would've hated to watch Vital and Tyson fight, Mike would've got beaten up pretty badly. Maybe back in 2002 in an eliminator...

At last the reason why the Klits are so dominant... they were mutated by radiation from Chernobyl. It all makes sense now.

Irrespective of his kind words I very much doubt that Vitaly was influenced that much by Thyson and his achievements back then in the last days of the soviet empire.
Pro boxing wasnt that popular then, and neither was Thyson.

I'd respectfully disagree. As teenage boxers, it's very likely that Klitschko and friends watched every available professional fight, and the gym probably had multiple copies of Tyson and other fights.

Nah! Back then in the old soviet union there were no vid tapes or posters in the gyms, bigbone!
Well,Thyson was known then, but he wasnt as popular in the countries of the former soviet union as he was in the western world.
He was no living legend then,at least for the vast mayority of ordinary citizens and soviet based fighters.
Hm! Have to admit that the Klitschko brothers have never been mediocre or average Joes.
I may be wrong, but I guess that Klitschko exaggerates a little bit because he wants to be polite and find some kind words about an American legend.
