Some seem to think Carl Froch beat Jermain Taylor by pulling a victory out of his ass in the 12th round, as if it were a fluke. All three judges had it 106-102 going into the 12th, for Taylor, which was a little biased. The English reporter scoring the fight ringside had it even after 10. The American press had it for Taylor. If Taylor swept the first six rounds, then Froch swept the last six...give or take a round either way. Each guy had a 10-8 round. The correct scores the slightly biased judges had in this were a couple rounds off, it should have been close to a draw going into the 12th, easily. The momentum shifted at least as early as the 6th round.

Froch is quite lucky to not have had a biased ref in Mike Ortega, who reffed the fight very professionally. And the timing of the stoppage was PERFECT and clearly justified. A biased ref could have bailed Taylor out of that fight.

If the referee didn't stop it Taylor was getting seriously hurt. Froch is very accurate and picks his punches very well when his opponent is hurt.

Froch seemed nervous in his fight on foreign soil in the first four rounds and fought stupid, whcih gave away a big lead. I think I had Taylor up two or three points going into the last.

I agree that it is fairly laughable when you see people saying that Froch was getting dominated for 11 rounds (even remember one person saying he was getting dominated until the last minute of round 12, but I'm not sure he'd actually seen the fight....) or that he won with a hail mary punch. Froch applied a lot of pressure from the halfway point and it was a sustained beat down in the end.

I thought he seemed pretty confident, especially considering the circumstances. His interview before the fight showed him gleaming with confidence. He smiled at Taylor early during the fight. I honestly think Taylor got shut out rounds 6-12. Before those rounds, each round was very close, except for Froch getting dropped.

It depends what you like to see. I thought Taylor had the cleaner more accurate and effective punches early on and I thought he had it all his way for the first 6 or 7. Froch fought his way back in the second half, but I had Taylor nicking one of the later rounds as well with a nice flurry shortly before the bell. Froch needed the ko in my book, but I'll grant you it wasn't as one sided as some make out on here. I've heard guys say Froch was getting schooled, and that Taylor just gassed and threw it away right at the end, which is going a bit far. When Taylor tired it was due to the pressure he was under and he was getting gradually out fought in the second half.

I think most people "think" Froch won the fight because he TKO'd Jermaine Taylor.

What does the scorecards have to do with anything but yeah, I agree, the momentum had shifted around about the 6th and by the 11-12th Froch was in control of the fight.

What a lot of people seem to forget when judging Froch, is that for those first 6 rounds, not many boxers are on the same level as Jermaine Taylor. You never seen Pascal run a route on Froch the way JT did in the early rounds.

Yeah Froch had been beating him down for a while by the time the 12th rolled around. And I know which round you're talking about with Taylor's flurry before the bell, I happen to think that that wasn't enough to win the rround, and that Froch won it

You hear McCracken say to Froch "you let him steal that one at the end" but I don't think it was enough either, it was a flashy combination at the end and a bit of showboating by JT but doesn't negate the whole round.

Taylor pretty much lost the entire second half of the fight. People who act like it was some sort of schooling or one off fluke are fools.

I was for froch, but one judge actually had it 106-102 froch before the stoppage...which IMO was ridiculous....I had taylor up by 1 round + the KD going into the 12th, and froch needed the KO, and he got it......but if taylor stays on his feet he wins the fight......

Completely agree, think if it had gone to the scorecards with Froch not getting the TKO, then i owuld have had it a draw.

As someone above mentioned, Taylor is hell of a boxer and not many people can live with him when he is fit and firing on all cylinders, but he loses concentration.

I think the same is going to happen in the Abraham fight too, unless taylor has sorted his cardio out!

I thought I heard Abraham had a lower workrate than Froch though. The pace might suit Taylor more.

So if Taylor survived the last round, who would have won the fight? (still taking to account the 12th rd Knockdown)

"Low work rate" doesn't even do it justice. He just stands there in a shell and lets the other guy punch himself out.
