Who is the most under rated British boxer?

Yeah i think he's a good fighter, he's fought Andrew Facey and only earned a draw when the commentators scorecard had him seven points up!
Also another controversial decision against Wayne Alexander.

I hope he does well in his next few fights, he's a good boxer to watch!

 

Definitely Ken Buchanan. He's probably only second to Lennox Lewis as Britain's greatest post-war boxer but does not get half the plaudits.

Yes Errol Graham,the one Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank ducked.Gave Julian Jackson a bit of a working over until Graham got whacked in emphatic style.Definately underrated.

 

Carl Thompson.Overrated Chris Eubank got all the plaudits for being stopped by Thompson whilst Thompson got virtually no praise for it.He only came to notoriety for beating David Haye,and that was only after Haye starting making his mark as a fighter.

 

There has been a few Graham, Conteh, Sibson, Rudkin, Paterson, Winstone..you could go on for a while.

But for me its definitely Kenny B...Sensational fighter and rarely spoken about by even his own countrymen.

When you really look at it the UK produced so many fighters who were right on the cusp of greatness but couldnt get over that line...In other eras they probably would have...I think these boys deserves a shout nearly as much as the fighters who made it over it.

 

Certainly not Eubank, Benn, Hamed or Lewis. They talked about all the time and are mostly rated highly. Hamed has some detractors that go completely overboard, but the other three are generally well regarded.

From the past Ken Buchanan is rarely talked about as a great lightweight, but he certainly was.

Currently there are a few, Jamie Moore I think can win a world title. He's looking terrific. But he's only really underrated because he hasn't got his shot yet, he's not come to peoples attention.

Weakest era in HW? I thought this was one of the strongest era in HW boxing history. I just dont get it, which is it?

I'd never even heard of Honeyghan until a year or so ago when I read an article on his fight with Curry in Boxing Monthly, shows my youth I suppose. Anyway the only time he's ever mentioned is when we send over a Michael Jennings or the like to get anihilated by an established world champion in America as they tend to try and draw parrallels between the two fights to sell tickets and trick us into thinking they have a chance.

Lewis competed in a very talent rich era!

 

This is true, but he didn't fight the other stand out fighters of the division during their respective primes - Mike Tyson, Riddick Bowe, and Evander Holyfield. I'm not pointing the blame at him, but the fights just didn't happen so it's hard to compare his domination to that of Joe Louis and Ali's domination of their era's who fought and beat everyone there was too beat.
