His career at 126 was just as impressive as his stint at 122 brah and many felt EM won the FIRST fight with MAB and many felt MAB won the rematch. Sure his handspeed slowed.....when you move up in weight that **** happens. For most at least. Guys like Floyd and PAC operate on anther level.

I'm not disputing that EM looked skinny for the rematch homie...I didn't dispute that at all. I said for the rubber match or the 3rd fight Arum and the El Teribble team took extra measures to ensure that EM was in GREAT physical condition in hopes to turn things around form what took place in the 2nd fight.

Agian....being PAST your physical prime doens't mean you aren't operating on the highest levels of the sport. MOST aren't in their Physical prime when they are at their very best! B/c when most fighters are in their prime they haven't had the kind of ring experience and championship experience to better their craft as a professional boxer.

At 23 yrs old EM may have been young and fast, but he wouldn't have been able to beat the version of MAB that he lost to in 2004 b/c he would have lost on experience. At some point EM was at his overall best and that would have been sometime in 2003.

You make valid points and you have strong arguements, but everyone has their own way of thinking and opinion. I don't mind that you don't agree with me. ..To each their own. At least you try to back up your stance which is far from many who seem to disagree with me.

You're confused, matey. Morales was given the controversial verdict in the first fight, whereas Barrera was given an equally controversial decision in the return. Not to worry, I don't imagine you've studied much of the Mexicans carers at length - although this would all be filed under common knowledge in truth.

You're absolutely correct - Morales looked in great physical condition - but so did Barrera ahead of his showdown with one Amir Khan. Oscar De La Hoya looked in damn good shape at the weigh-in ahead of his fight with Manny Pacquiao. Looks can be deceiving, whether Morales overtrained is another issue - I just think he was close to being a shot item. He was faded.

Morales was past his physical prime, but he was also in a bad mental state - and just couldn't operate at the level he once had. We can speculate all day - only these are observations I've made after watching him get dominated by 2 B level fighters, and being blown away. Nobody blows away Erik Morales.

In theory, he would be at his best in '03, but a fighter like Michael Nunn or Donald Curry only got worse as they got more experienced. It's not an exact science. The best guy to take this up with is Bill Butcher, he knows more about Morales than I do - but I always felt the best Morales we ever saw was at 122lbs. That's to say he was most effective then. Nothing he achieved at Featherweight or Super Featherweight suggests otherwise in my view.

Charlie, I enjoy the discussions. I was referring to Enzo, who is completely unreasonable about everything. He has no place here.

...Nobody takes you seriously here Enzo. You bark on about how "It's just the Internet". That makes it even worse that you spend all day on the Internet, acting like an *******.

122lbs was morales prime weight. he looked unbeatable during that time, you might think he got rocked a few times but he had a granite chin and he really looked good at that weight (meh, high school days, i used to see some of his fights on tv lol). i believe pac vs morales at 122lbs would have been a good fight with morales winning a late tko or a ud.

126 and 130lb version of morales he never looked as good as he did on SBW, although his skills are still on top level. Addie is on point on that regard to tell you the truth.

    Thanks for saying so, Hyperbone.

Morales is widely regarded as the 2nd best Super Bantamweight of all time. He unified the division, and beat everyone who was relevant there - including a victory over a prime Marco Antonio Barrera. Nothing he did at Featherweight or Super Featherweight matched his achievements at 122lbs, and of course, he was undefeated until he actually moved up.

After the fight with Barrera, Morales said, ”He was a brave fighter, and we both gave it all we had. We were both hurt during the fight. He was the biggest puncher I ever faced in the ring.

Ya know...your right. I had it backwards. :good I have studied all 3 of the mexicans careers. MAB, EM and JMM. They were some of my favorite fighters in the early 2000s and EM was my fav in the late 90s.

I don't buy the whole shot thing b/c EM was able to beat Diaz....or at least he won the fight but lost on paper. You don't move up to a new division and beat a champion if you are shot. That just doesn't make sense.

EM was only dominated by Raheem who wasn't a B level fighter. He wasn't a great but he was a very good and capable fighter who was highly touted and only lost to Rocky before EM. Who was the "2nd B Level" guy EM lost to?

No one does blow EM away...no one Blows MAB away or DLH away or Ricky away eitehr. The common demominator is PAC. PAC is a truly special fighter who is a great who is still fighting. Sure EM probably wasn't at his overall best but he was still very good and capable of beating most at that weight.

At 126 he beat some really good names and had some dominating performances. I think he did his best work at 126 and was at his best at 126 b/c he peaked by then. PAC peaked just this year and this is the best PAC we've seen. I think this version of PAC beats MAB, EM or JMM at their overall best.
