You posted it under your name without any mention that it was not written by you or any source. Usual convention is at minimum to link the original, attribute and quote at most a small section. Though I don't believe The Guardian even permit excerpting of their material, I've no idea whether they would enforce that against a site like ESB, they certainly have grounds to though. It would probably be best if you or a moderator edit the OP to replace the copyrighted material with a link to the original article.
Cobbler, stop looking for arguements, mate. Rob said 'info on Primetime', not 'Look what I just researched and wrote all by myself'. I suppose we'll all have to get permission from copyright owners for the avatars we use (didn't you have a Ring magazine cover a while back?) and also for the youtube vids we post as well then?
Losfer mate all he needed to do was post a link to the article or mention the writer. That would have been enough.
Gotta agree (and I'm not looking for a ruck!!) but sources should be always be mentioned esp. when posting an article word for word. IMHO it was obvious that Rob wasn't trying to pass the work off as his own but that doesn't mean he shouldn't credit the source.
In fairness to Rob, I think this is a bit OTT. Most of us do provide the sources for threads (including myself) but maybe Rob just forgot. Who knows? That said, you're all leaving out one possibility that could explain all of this................. Rob Palmer is actually Kevin Mitchell from the Guardian:deal.
Tbh I wouldn't even have mentioned it if he'd even done what he has done now and just mentioned where it was from. I don't think Rob was trying to make out that he wrote it (for a start is completely obviously not his writing style to anyone familiar with his posts, hence the fact I googled it and found out where it was from).
I'm not disputing that, alba. I think maybe he forgot- he was in no way trying to pass it off as his own work, though. As I said before, I fully understand where you are coming from as I always provide sources for the threads I publish and also to back up some of my posts at times. Anyway, he has changed it now so I think that proves that it was maybe a mistake in the first place. Who knows? I knew it wasn't Rob's work as well and that was the reason I didn't think he was trying to pass it off as his own work. Storm in a teacup- Rob was wrong but, hey, we all make mistakes.
Anyone suspect that Froch's contract is up very soon and Hennessey is desperately trying to make bigbucks to keep him? This will flop and flop big, IMO. I would have bought it if it was on Virgin TV- now, I've sorted out where I will be watching it 'elsewhere'.
As suspected on Primetime - they're sticking their toe in the water to check the temperature. But outside of the hardcore no-one will know this is on, where it is on or have any incentive to watch it.
