Taylor would've won it on a split decision. 2 of the judges had him up by 4 points at the start of the 12th so even a 10-8 round for Froch would've left him short. Personally I only had Taylor up by 2 points at best before the 12th, so I probably would've had it a draw if he'd stayed up till the bell. Very close fight imo...
If Taylor survived those last few seconds (under 20) I think a draw would have been about right. Froch would have been robbed. I guess that's why you just knock your opponent out.
I'm pretty much going with the majority as I also had Taylor up 2 points going into the last. Draw in my opinion if Taylor lasted..... .....but he didn't.
Interesting, seems a lot of people had it the same way. So it would have been a draw had it not been for the TKO. Far cry from what some people are saying that Froch pulled the KO out his ass to win a fight he was badly losing.
I believe I had Taylor up +1 had Froch got the 10/8 round from the 12th, but I know **** all about scoring. I am always just like "OH THAT GOES TO THAT BOXER" as soon as I see a good flurry, i'm terrible at judging.
Yo, he was losing that fight. Taylor took two of the later rounds. Basically Froch won the rounds Taylor took off trying to conserve and in those rounds Froch did not hardly land **** and when he did Taylor would answer back with a flurry. JT was trying to fight a economical fight when he should of let it out there more. He allowed Froch to get confident and get back in the fight. Either way Froch needed a KO to win.
Well on the judges scorecards he was losing, that can't be argued. But as far as rounds that Taylor took off, the ones you say are the only ones Froch won, those would be rounds 6-12.
There's a lot of revisionist history on this thread. The 106-102 Taylor scores were fine. The judge that had Froch up should be shot the next time he gets near a boxing ring.
The score cards are insignificant. The objective of boxing is to KO the other guy. It does not matter if one guy out boxes a guy for the majority of the rounds if he gets KTFO then he lost and thats the end of it. If they fought again Froch would finish him earlier. Taylor could never live with Froch's power.
My take on it is that Jermain Taylor won the first half of the fight but started to fade in the second half and just couldn't make it to the finish line.
