I never heard of this guy before the froch fight and looking at his record he hasn't beat anyone good, can someone tell me why he's getting al this hype?:huh

One reason: he's American. He'd be termed a 'Eurobum' if he came from over here.

What hype? most people are picking Froch by KO...

If anything it's Froch who is getting so hyped.

Yeah but the difference is Froch is an established SMW now who's actually been in with elite level opposition in Taylor. You're not being hyped over someone if you've actually proven yourself more than that person.

froch is a champion, his reign has included impressively beating the wbc lhw champion, and knocking out the former 5 belt middleweight champion. the hype has been lived up to.

and of course dirrel is being hyped up, i too can't see why. at least ward has beaten miranda, but what has dirrel done?

Dirrell KO'd Anthony Hanshaw in spectacular fashion. Remember, Roy Jones was unable to knock Hanshaw out. Dirrell has hand and foot speed reminiscent of a young Muhammad Ali: how can you not be excited?

Before the Liston-Ali fight, Ali had never beaten a great fighter, and had never been past the 10th round (how could he have?). Everyone was saying the same things about him that people are saying now about Dirrell. With an up-and-coming fighter, the record doesn't tell us much. Forget that he's never gone 12 rounds: I'm sure he's done several 12-round simulation fights in his training camp (like Sugar Ray Leonard did before the Hagler fight).

I don't know about hyped. I just think he is a prospect at this point. They seem to come along constantly. Time will tell. It is ok if US fans get behind him. That is how it works around the world.

Ward and Dirrel should not be underestimated by any of the other fighters. I've got a feeling the weak link in this tournament will be the smaller Abraham.

Americans can't do much of anything anymore. Mayweather is the only good American boxer out there that hasn't been humiliated by someone from another nation. Frochy is going to kill him.

Because people know a talented fighter when they see one.

I remember people said the same about Kessler before he became champ.

Basically it is because we have eyes. We can see how skilled he is. Sure, he still needs to prove certain things, bu so far he has a huge upside.

Doesn't matter who he has beaten - unless you are a boxrec rider. If you actually look at the fights then make up you mind based on his skill.
