byron should've won, as should reid. thats the problem with german fighters, if you dont knock them out on home turf, ya can't win cos no judge will give you a round. at least in england that **** don't happen i.e. bradley vs witter. calzaghe would not have stopped ottke, so would he have had a chance at gettin a UD, considering the legacy that ottke could've had with a victory. same with rjj and michalowski, whilst the fight should've undoubtedly happened, michalowski was the lineal 3 belt champion, it is only feasible in neutral territory, but then again the champion should pick the location. its a tough situation that can't really be improved unless there is an overhaul of the european judge system
Not to discredit these guys, but don't they realize that being undefeated is not such a great thing in the sport of boxing, on terms of being worship or being classified as one of the greatest. It's an excellent accomplishment, but the greatest saying to this is the following: "tell me your undefeated and i'll tell you, who you haven't fought":good

this post is pointless. the thread isn't about it being great, its about boxers who have done it. IMO the greatest fighter ever is ALI if he'd have retired after spinks II it'd probably be general concensus as well. whilst i agree being undefeated isn't all that, it is still a great achievement for any boxer. One even better tho, is overtuening every loss on your record i.e. Lewis. But some fighters, like marciano and ricardo lopez, did fight everyone, and won. Who else could calzaghe have fought? ottke taylor pavlik toney prime rjj dawson tarver i think they are the only boxers he could've but didn't fight. now pavlick, taylor, tarver weren't in his division and he'd have been accused of beating on smaller (or weight drained) opposition. leaves ottke toney dawson prime rjj now he tried making the ottke fight, he even fought in germany to promote a showdown. but ottke didn't wanna know. toney and rjj weren't in his division long so it can be forgiven. dawson was unproven when calzaghe was around. if you look at calzaghes resume it reads like a champions should do.
Im allow to give my opinion in any thread, esp. if I have an opinion that has some truth to it which is about undefeated fighters retiring. Like I stated I didnt want to discredit any of the fighters listed, but to all honesty there is always plenty of fights out there for these guys esp. when they are at their best such as Joe. Now you name all the great names Mr.Marciano defeated and their ages when he fought them. Im just trying to be fair to those fighters that go in to the ring and fight everyone win or lose. Thats my opinion and those are guys I respect and many others do as well. So how is the post pointless when "part" of the subject is of undefeated fightersl:good
