And you can name 99 fighters in his division that are more deserving of a title shot and ahead of him?

 

Maybe gainst other C plus fighters. But against top guys like Hatton and Cotto, I don't think so.

Both Malinaggi and Diaz are overrated. Their good against tomato cans. But when they step up in class they get pounded.

 

Maybe not quite 99... to keep it in a realistic scope I could name about 25 that are wayyy ahead of him at 135. And at 145 I could name another 35. I mean the guy still fights people with losing records. So, I guess you are right. He is a top 100 fighter... just not a top 50. Also- at what weight should he be ranked respectably?

You know- I dont have almost 20k posts, but don't think that means I don't have any validity to my points. Where do you think he should be ranked and at what weight? ( I say DEFF not in the top 25 in any weight- and he has been trying his hand at welter most lately...)

 

If they can make the fight in Chicago, I think Paulie should take it. There are not that many other big fights for him, Paulie style also apparently works well against Diaz's. I scored the first fight a draw, so it is a very winnable fight for Paulie and still a good payday.

 

I am right there with you! I think he should even take the short money this time so he can take the lion's share in the trilogy after he beats Diaz again

 

team diaz recently declined the fight in chicago from my understanding..

 

Team Diaz did, but his promoter agreed to it as did HBO.
If Diaz wants to fight on HBO again... and keep his promoter happy... he will come around and fight Malignaggi again.

Maybe they want a more local venue... maybe they want a larger cut of the money... maybe they want to evaluate other prospects....
But no to Chicago... and "no gracias" doesn't mean "Under no circumstances will this fight come to fruition."

I think Diaz will be hard pressed to get any attention and paydays until this is squared away.
