Taking into account his age at the time, you might be right. Nobody thought he would win another world title after what happened against Hearns 5 years earlier.

I don't disagree at all with most of the points raised on Duran's awesome performance, but am i the only one that thinks the fight could still have easily gone the other way despite the late rally by Roberto?.razor-thin close imo.

My man Duran's LAST great effort was against Castro down in Panama in the summer of '97 when Duran was age 46 and Castro was a mere 29...... Then came the 'Joppy' fiasco in 1998........... Duran was game but slow at age 50 in 2001 against the 39 year old Camacho in Colorado...........

You're not the only one. Had it a draw myself.

I think it could have gone the other way as well. But in a way I'm glad it didn't.

Is that list based solely on performance or everything considered because on just performance that might be my list also.... perhaps swapping Barkely & Moore.

Definitely an extremely close fight, but I ended up scoring it for Duran in the end. I felt he deserved it.

Yeah, this was a fight, just like Hagler-Leonard, that could have gone either way. Just as Leonard did against Hagler I feel that Duran just shaded it by a point or two, though. That KD was crucial.

honestly, i'm a big roberto duran fan but i felt iran barkley beat him that night. yeah, duran scored a knockdown late but i felt barkley controlled most of the rounds to warrant a decision win. kudos to both fighters for such a great fight but in this instance, i felt barkley should have gotten the nod.

The KD was the tiebreaker honestly.

I'm glad Al Bernstein finally got off ESPN after so many yrs calling "Bull****" fights in tank towns for ESPN...... Showtime is a good outlet to hook with, but Showtime also keeps a slow-paced boxing schedule......... Showtime seems hellbent on staying behind HBO in class and quality for all eternity.......

First time i viewed it i thought Barkley won to be honest. Haven't watched it since. Sentiment was high. I remember commenting i thought Barkley may have won here ages ago and quite a few came in disagreeing. Might have to watch it again.

It may not have been his greatest performance in terms of form, but it was perhaps the greatest in terms of what he achieved in the face of what obstacles he was up against (ie: his age, Barkley's size). However, I did always feel that decision was somewhat questionable. At the very least, those wide margins in his favor were definite bull****.
