My best story is meeting Muhammad Ali in 1972.

My best personal fight story is fighting Ray Lampkin in the finals of the
1968 Seattle Golden Gloves/Pacific Northwest AAU Championships.

My best non-boxing achievement in amateur boxing was being the editor
of the "B C Amateur Boxing News" - October 1983 to January 1986,
I was able to tell hundreds of stories of current activity to flashbacks
and Golden Memories, some how to box articles and get together
with some of the members of
    Canada's 1984 Olympic Boxing team.

A couple of brilliant stories from BurnleyBlue and Neil Hibbert in this thread! Enjoyed reading them :good

Here's one of my own - nothing special compared to the other stories but thought I'd share it anyway...

Was out drinking in town one night with a few mates and head to the bar to get the drinks in. One of me mate's notices Paul Smith and says to me 'Isn't that Paul Smith over there?' After debating whether or not to disturb him to say hello and for a bit of a chat about boxing, we decided not to bother him while he was busy in conversation with a group of mates.

Anyway, head back from the bar with a few drinks to meet our other mates and continue drinking as you do. Next thing a jet of cold beer flies through the air and lands all down one side of me. Looking up to see what had gone on and who the perpetrator was, I was met with the bruised face of an apologetic Smith. As I soon discovered, a couple of my mates had seen what was about to happen and instead of warning me that I was about to be covered in ale, decided to get out of the way themselves and laugh as I took the full force. One of Smith's mates had knocked his beer bottle on top of Paul's causing it to fizz and fire across the room towards me as he looked on helplessly. To be fair to Paul, he was an absolute gent and couldn't apologise enough. He even bought us all a round of drinks and spent most of the night chatting away to us like he was our best mate, talking about boxing in general and his own career, football and the usual banter that goes with it and was even happy to have a few photos taken. A really top bloke.

If I remember rightly, it was just after he'd stopped Cello Renda and he was looking towards a crack at the British middleweight title, so fingers crossed he brings home the Super Middleweight title next month 'cos he's due a bit of success, especially after the cruel set back against Steve Bendall. Best of luck Paul :bbb

I've got another about meeting Joe Calzaghe last year and I'll get round to typing that one up soon (just about to watch the Murray-Thaxton fight on the tele!)

Probably my best boxing experience was being inside Madison Square Garden to see Super Joe defeat Roy Jones last year. To have seen a top level fight in the Mecca of Boxing was some experience and will certainly take some beating! :thumbsup

Warren Stowe is the guy they showed on News at 10 diving out of the ring in South Africa (and then under it) when someone fired a shot holding up the cashier.
He made Usain Bolt look slow.
