Khan is 22 years old and a world title holder and the No.1 young up and coming fighter in the world.

This is hilarious. Marquez would easily knock out Khan. Also, Khan is in one of the worst division possible for him. Almost everybody in the top 10 are heavy hitters. He's gonna get KTFO by ANY of them.

Why the hell isn't he fighting Maidana?

 

Because he has to fight his mandatory first Salita.

No by WBA rules Khan has to fight Interim belt holder to make one champion at this weight, so if Khan beats Salita he has to fight big puncher Maidana next.

 

Any of the straight rights that Marquez landed on Floyd would KO Khan. This isn't even a competitive matchup.

 

Really? Now I can't see anything other than Khan being KO'd here, no offense. He would have had maybe 20% chance against Marquez, but about 5% against Maidana. No way in hell.

 

Ya we'll see. Wouldn't be surprised if some other fantastic opportunity came along and they were forced to vacate the belt to go pursue it.

I think Khan will outbox Maidana who i dont rate much as a boxer more of just a puncher. Khan would have to fight a tight gamplan and i think he can over come him, but this is boxing and anything can happen Khan could get KO in the first round who knows. Good fight.

 

Not so sure, Marquez was able to tag Mayweather with some flush hard shots a couple of times. If he can do that to Mayweather, changes are he can do that to Khan as well. The difference here is that I am pretty sure that Khan will feel Marquez's punches whereas Floyd did not. Given this, I think Khan will built an early lead based on activity but eventually Marquez, being the excellent counter-puncher that he is, will land enough hard shots to really bother Khan and eventually KO him.

 

Khan lacks variety, he's an in/out 1-2 arm puncher (forgive the hyperbole but it's not far off base). He's very textbook and linear, so easy to read and easy to out-think; Khans ring IQ is atrocious (not surprising as in life he's thick as pig ****).

Aring master such as JMM, even at this stage, would dismantle him. If JMM were getting shut out, like the Floyd fight, he woul at least land SOME punches. The punches JMM landed on Floyd would probably put Khan down; the accuracy and delivery would be too much for Khan. If JMM can land on Floyd, 2 weights (arguably 3) higher than his comfort zone, then he can land on Khan, easily.

Also, JMMs counterpunching would annihilate Khan: one of the most predictable, straight up guys in the sport vs. a guy with some of the best timing, accuracy and counterpunching, does not end well for the former.

Conversely, Khan has next to no power, he couldnt punch his way out of a wet paper-bag; JMM took 12 rounds of Floyd (a good hitter; clean, accurate and fast shots) hitting him with power shots and was only dropped once. Khan, a light hitter even at LW would have nothing to make JMM worried.



I can see how JMMs last outing would make you feel about this fight but lets get serious here, even the JMM that showed up for the Floyd fight would be the betting favorite against Khan.

 

JMM at 140 looked like a slow old man out of his weight class, and his slow foot speed and his timing was way out. JMM is 5'7 and Khan is 5'10 has reach, speed, foot speed, work rate over JMM this would the key in the fight.

 

So if this slow old man, two weight classes out, with shot timing and foot speed (i think you should take note of who he was fighting here); gives away 3 inches of height, has no speed or each advantage, and lacks the workrate of a younger fresh fighter, were to fight Khan and lose, you'd call it a decent, worthy fight?
