While the result may never be in doubt, which I may add is no slight on Sweet Pea at all an ATG in his own outright, an overwhelming majority (me included) think Hearns would decision a WW version of him. Now would Hearns that beat Duran get the stoppage against the 154 lb version of Pea? If he does, state what round he gets stopped in

MISMATCH!!!! Hearns POUNDS a scared shitless Whitaker like a *****......... The early to mid-80s Hearns at 154 against the Whitaker who beat Julio C. Vasquez for the title somewhere in 1995 or '96, would be creamed within 6 rds.........

Hearns by decision, wide. I doubt he stops him as Pernell was like Mayweather, next to impossible to hit but it is possible.

If anyone could do it it would be Hearns,Leonard or Duran but you would have to catch Sweet Pea with somrthing to start the downfall, Leonard had the speed, Hearns had the power and Duran the pressure...still it would not be easy to do vs Sweet pea

I just don't know how sweet-pea one of the best defensive boxers i've seen gets out alive here, if Tommy Hearns & Pernell Whitaker had an equivalant in the insect world, you could head up this match on the official fightposter from Caesars Palace & it would be this:

    "PRAYING MANTIS" vs "THE FLY"

Only one outcome here me thinks:smoke

Does anyone think that beating ruined Hurtado, he seemed pretty chinny after that 1

He didnt stop Benitez who is similar but not as fantastic as the Pea (albeit a bit bigger) so I dont think he stops Whitaker. Whitaker would slip and spoil but not have too much success of his own

Pea was not the same animal at 154, the Vasquez fight showed that. I say Hearns stops him, this is his prime weight, he's super fast and a best punch against a southpaw is the right hand, hearns has one of the greatest of all time.

Everyone knows I'm a massive Pea fan but it's not inconceivable that SOMEONE could stp him. And that someone is Hearns, at his best weight against Pernell at his worst :deal

Benitez was certainly better at 154 than the Whitaker who beat Vasquez, naturally bigger as well.

I don't think the fighter that could stop Sweet Pea at these weights has yet been born.

I'am going on the Tommy Hearns that wiped out Duran, after Hearns hand problems cleared up he went from the "Motor City Cobra" mode into the return of the Hitman.

i've never really thought that pea could be hurt by anyone or even hit with a bag of rice, but that version of Hearns was truly terrifying, it begs the question as to what pea could do in the way of offence stratergy without getting into harms way, facinating:think the speed of Hearns from Duran to Shular would be very hard too offset.
