    or perhaps, their promoter waited until he could get the absolute most out of thaxton's career, before putting him in with a monster like john murray.

    murray has dominated at british level, boxing is seldom about prime vs prime, it is almost always about guys at different stages of their careers going at it. props to murray for his 4th stoppage of a british title challenger, for doing the business in such a controlled and exciting manner.

    he is clearly ready to move on.

    what a great time to pick on such a dangerous opponent. while a romanov fight wouldn't get murray a european or world title, the risk v reward looks good. last time romanov was out so long he lost to earl. reckon same would happen with murray. though i would pick murray over romanov even if romanov had been fighting every 3 months.

    romanov - a great opponent for murray to make his name against. a potentially great fight, as well. i think te key is to back up romanov, make him work, not allow him to pause for breath.

    Say what? Who's he fought in any Organisation bodies top ten to earn a World Title shot?

    He did well last night, but you need to put it into perspective. He fought a fighter who has lost his last 2 fights.

    Murray could only fight like that cos Jono is done. Against top level, they'd eat him alive and he'd have to step on the gas to try and get them out of there.

    in jono's previous ligthweight fight, his previous championship fight, he lost controversially and narrowly in a terrific 12 rounder. i would hardly say he's done. jono has made great comebacks, but murray wouldn't let him into it.

    if ppl cannot recognise such a classy and accomplished display of boxing when they see it, something is clearly wrong.

    just think, if thaxton had beaten mezaache, he would never have defended vs murray, a fight with massive slip up potential.

    this was the only way murray was ever going to get hold of thaxton - coming off losses - and i'm chuffed for murray that he gave thaxton a bit of a lesson.

    i just hope lee mcallister - another murray victim - hasn't beaten murray to the EBU title shot.

    both were average fighters. he could have won but he isn't sharp any more. Jono is a good fighter so it is a good win but his reflexes and timing are way off in every fight.

    mezaache should have never came so close to the the EBU title but Jono was continously off.

    Again, a good win for Murray cos he was tenacious but in an intelligent way.

    He beat a figher that should have been consigned to the knackers yard before the fight.

    Thaxton is clearly shot to peices and he wobbled when any shot connected.

    Therefore last night told me nothing about Murray, and he will need to fight someone who can take a punch and then I will judge.

    I do believe from watching his previous fights that he does have the ability to deliver at European level and win a title there.

    I will be fully supporting him then.

    Very good little fighter.

    If only he moved a little more swiftly. Can't help feeling he's going to look a right plodder against a good boxer/mover.

    Oh and his guard is weird, there is a big hole straight down the middle.

    Though it was a cracking performance last night. Picked his shots well, fairly tight guard against an awkward fighter. TFFP, Jono is all about the hooks and uppercuts so I'm guessing Murray held his arms wider than normal to counter that. Elbows tucked in tight.

    For me though, I was most impressed with Murray's patience. He never rushed, never panicked. It was a good atmosphere in the venue but most wanted blood early doors. Murray just stuck to his game plan and it worked a treat. I'd say European titles are well within his grasp now. Katisidis is an interesting one if that comes off it'd be a great scrap. Katsidis has been in with much better opposition though, maybe wait another 8 months or so before chasing him.

    Murray looked good, over the short period of time. I would have liked to have seen if he could have kept things as tight over the full 12x3.
