Why Hatton was better than Calzaghe

He was the champion at 1 weight, and a title holder at 147 (won via a gift decision).

 

In the end, Hatton did have more balls than Calzaghe.

 

I disagree. It was anything but clear.

In general, Hatton still had more balls than Calzaghe did though. Despite Calzaghe being the better fighter, with greater achivements.

 

Hatton was my favorite fighter but Calzaghe is way way better in every way. I am sorry to say this but it is true.

As far as Calzaghe coming over to fight Jones and Hopkins in their primes. They could have gone to the UK too.

And who is the Ring P4P now? Hopkins. And who was the last one to beat Hopkins in his own back yard. Calazaghe.

Calzaghe is a freak of nature and you should consider yourself lucky to have seen his fights.

 

Having more balls than skills means getting beat up alot. Know your limits.

 

Yeah, but look what happened to Hatton.

In his fight against Mayweather;

- His fans only got 3,000 tickets although 15,000 fans wanted to buy one. (The fix was in and they knew the English fans would kill the ref and burn the building to the ground)
- He had to fight Mayweather (the top p4p) And that stupid ass ref Cortez - Cortez said after the fight that "All British fighters are dirty" - Hatton can't beat the top p4p and a ref at once.

This is what happens when you travel outside of your home country. Unless you can completely dominate, you lose every time.

 

Hatton got outclassed, end of story, even Hatton said Floyd beat him on the inside aswell as out.

 

That isn't the entire story. Hatton never got a fair shot on the inside. Cortez would not allow it.

Hatton had an uphill battle from the start and Cortez was the final nail in his coffin.

Cortez pissed me off so much I felt like throwing my lamp through my TV. He ruined the fight.

All that said, Mayweather most likely would have won.

 

Well Jim Watt cried like a baby, but after the fifth he could do nothing but say "Floyd is fighting the perfect fight here" and as Ian Darke said "Hattons dad could have been refereeing and the result would have been the same". Dark is one of the few British commentators I respect

 

Hatton was toast by the 5th round. Hatton rushed in, took 2-3 hard shots, started his inside fight and then Cortez broke them up. This happened over and over and over.

Hatton took so many shots because of this that there wasn't anything left in his tank by the 5th round.

If Hatton was allowed to stay inside, Mayweather would have taken some punishment no doubt but Cortez wasn't allowing it. Cortez should have just shot Hatton in the head to ensure a Mayweather victory. I hate refs like that.

I am an American and have not met many Brits I am fond of so no nationalist nonsense from my end.

 

Ok fair enough, no bias, but still, I can't see Hatton out-working Mayweather on the inside ever, he may be able to do his weight-switch left hook trademark to guys willing to lean on his shoulders and fight on the inside, Floyd wouldn't have any of that even if Cortez laid off.

Although I do agree, Cortez was a joke "WOWOWOWOWOW!!! BREAK BREAK!!!!" every single time they got within an inch of each other, yet he let Hopkins do all sorts to Calzaghe, but still....

 

Exactly, funny how Cortez changed his style in the Hopkins - Calzaghe fight. Guys like Cortez are making me switch my PPV dollars to the UFC more and more. This is something I hate to admit.
