Describe Marco Antonio Barrera in one word.

I did score it round by round ages ago and had it 9-3 or 8-4 for MAB (I've posted my car for Bill before but no longer have it). I favoured MAB's work round on round because:

1. Ring Generalship - he was bossing the ring and backing Morales to the ropes time and again, however I dont remember MAB going to the ropes
2. Effective Punching - his punches were cleaner, harder punches that had more effect, Morales was hurt far more often than MAB round on round, I really can't ignore that in my round scoring, even if Morales lands a few more weaker arm punches

BTW you have to count a KD if the ref calls it as a judge even if you dont believe it was KD. Personally I didn't see MAB tripping or pushing Morales (am I wrong)? If I'm right that makes it a KD.

Morales marks up easier than Barrera, always has... please tell me you arent implying that the reason Morales never won that 2nd fight was because he was more marked up than Barrera

Morales should have been gone right there, what an incredible warrior this man was, cast iron chin & as Larry Merchant says about him `Morales has the sort of will that enables men to walk over hot coals`

 

So, you scored that 1st fight 9-3 at some point in MABs favour & you thought that was a real KD in rd 12 of that 1st fight AND you scored all 3 fights in Marco`s favour ? :-(

Barrera was a phenomenal fighter no doubt, an ATG for sure... but trying to KO a prime Morales is like pissing into the wind as Marco found out thru 36 rds.

I had it 115-112 Barrera (the first fight) the KD was NOT a KD but I always imply with the official rules when scoring a fight.

Doesn't mean I don't overrule decisions I feel are bad but if a KD is called, I deduct it accordingly.

 

I had it about the same, Flea. Close but clear.

 

Whats your stance on rd 7 in the 2nd fight were Morales was denied a perfectly good KD (a straight right to the belly) in an very close 50/50 type rd that all 3 judges scored for Marco 10-9 ?
(If the KD had been given, Morales would have won the fight on the official cards.)

My stance would be to give Morales a 10-9 rd probably because its not as if it was a Barrera rd except for the KD, it was very close rd & IMO it likely was Morales rd anyway, his punches were cleaner, especially his sharp jab.
