I tought you were going to say make a comparison between Pac and Wilfredo Gomez, not alfonso gomez :think
I think two fights in Cotto's career will give insight on how this Pacquiao fight will play out. Against Judah, he faced a lefty with all the skills, speed, and footwork in the world. Judah gave him several problems with the straight left hand, but Cotto figured him out eventually, combined with Judah's usual fading endurance after the middle rounds. One could even argue the low blows Cotto administered when he was stung by Judah early could've contributed to that. Against Mosley, he faced an orthodox fighter will all the skills, speed, and footwork in the world. Mosley tried to frustrate him with combination punching but IMO Cotto's most impressive performance to date, he stayed composed and within himself, using his feet to cut Mosley off and went to work on the inside. When Mosley would throw three or four punch combos Cotto was poised and countered when need be. Those counterpunches along with the body attack were the keys. He beat Mosley by wearing him down. Three questions for this fight: 1. Will Cotto be able to cut off the ring like he did with Mosley and mow him down on the ropes from the body on up? 2. Will Cotto resort to low blows like he did with Judah to offset his opponent's footwork and hand speed? 3. Will Cotto be quick enough to be able Pacquiao's counterpunching, especially since it's obvious his plan will be to dart in and out like he did with De La Hoya? Really interesting matchup.
Ha ha I thought so too, with Wilfredo Gomez moving up to face Chava at a weight the latter was comfortably established at. Alfonso Gomez, where the hell did that comparison come from LOL This is a candid camera joke aint it? :nut
Pac's and Gomez' levels are miles apart so the comparison certainly looks ridiculous to others. Don't get mad at the unwanted reactions you will receive from such post.:yep
If Pac wins...you damn right I will give him FULL credit ( as well as the Cotto team and the Trinidad family expressed the same ) and I damn sure won't change my name or go weak with an alias.....I will go down with the ship !!! However, I just don't see Pacman winning and don't get me wrong Pacman deserves all the credit for getting where he is today and I don't deminish it for one bit....just all the hype surrounding his Welterweight endeavour is what is getting annoying. Cotto in 7 !!!!
I'm expecting a war on 11/14 and believe me even if Cotto is victorious, he's still gonna know that he was just in a fight.
You're right in there Capitan! There's nothing you can say or do to change the outcome of the fight and I think you had said enough in making your point, Just don't take it too seriously if Pac beat Cotto. BTW, I'm a Cotto fan too.
Capitan, it seems people's memory of smaller men being knocked out by the naturally bigger men have been erased. History will tell us that the good big man will always beat the small good man. As a Cotto fan, I don't consider Cotto to be unbeatable at 147lbs, but I am realistic as to which type of fighters present a problem for him, and those are bigger stronger guys... He eats smaller guys for lunch.
