From all indications though, it seems that Koncz is the source of the internal struggle. I've read no reports saying Manny is unhappy with what Roach says and does. Almost all conflicts seem to involve either Gacal or Koncz, from the local tv broadcasting rights to purse splits and now to training camp matters. It's plain to see that it's these two who are causing the conflicts. Roach may be vocal enough to further escalate the conflict (and I totally understand Roach being vocal about it, as he had to watch Pac get ripped off by his former promoters) but I highly doubt he's causing any internal struggle.
based on the thread title, i maybe objecting this one because Koncz and Freddie has always been here at pac's training camp at Baguio City. Ive been seeing them together almost everyday at the gym. If Koncz may have a problem with Freddy, then he should be confronting him directly.
I agree with overall, I think what Koncz is really saying is Manny's only has a limited number of fights left and he is over paying roach. While I also agree that Manny would not likely be were he is now without Roach that doesnt mean that he should over pay him NOW...The guy is doing his job, and his job is to offer manny advice, it doesnt mean that he has to take it... With that being said, this is the ****ing problem with the world today, too many people want to bit off the hand that feeds them. Roach is one of the most caring men in the sport when it comes to his fighters, he would never **** over one of his fighters. My guess is that Manny felt that it was fair to pay Roach that money or eles he wouldnt have paid it. Maybe someone should advice Manny to dump Koncz.
I really don't know anything about those guys, but I know that Roach is going beyond his role of trainer when he criticizes Manny in public. That's wrong and embarrassing. I don't know if he caused the struggle, but it's there and it needs to be dealt with. It's not healthy for a camp. Going back to my first point, let's say that you had an employee and he's pretty good at what he does. One day, you make a business decision that the employee disagrees with and this employee decides to run to the local newspaper and tell them that you are a nitwit. The newspaper publishes this. Do you overlook it because he's an excellent employee or do you do something because he crossed the line? Maybe Roach is that good and you let him act like a loose cannon, but it's unacceptable to me.
where else would he go? .... who else would train him? ... i don't disagree with the thoughts of koncz and i don't even like roach all that much, but he couldn't find a better tainer to suit his style other than roach ... any other trainer would not fit.
just a typical buisnessman pissed that roach is getting more money than him :deal ****in pencil pusher:barf
The moment Manny loses Freddie - he loses. Freddie is the reason Manny turned from a good boxer into an excellent one. Freddie is also the guy who sets the pace with which Manny trains at.
Good analogy, but it's exaggerated in some points 1. Roach didn't exactly run to the press, he constantly gets interviewed and he's very honest with his opinions. Hardly a loose cannon. 2. Roach isn't just some employee, he's been training Pac for around 10 years now. There relationship is more than just employer-employee. That constitutes a certain level of trust. I'm pretty sure Pac knows how outspoken Roach can be and he doesn't seem to be bothered by what Roach is saying. And from an outside perspective it seems to be driving Pac to train harder (thus solving the issue of Pac lacking focus). Roach is his trainer, he'll do what he thinks he needs to do to whip Pac into shape and you can be sure Roach won't be wearing kid gloves while doing it. 3. Saying Pacquiao isn't focused (especially given how many times Roach has shown his belief in Pac's abilities) is a far cry from some employee calling his boss a nitwit. Sure, given your analogy I would probably fire that employee. But yours is an extreme scenario at the other end of the spectrum. What Roach did is hardly on that level. And besides, it's not Pac who seems to be bothered by it and I don't think he's compaining about what Roach said.
Freddie should dump Manny. He doesn't need this BS at this stage in his life. Let Manny end up broke and beaten like the way Freddie found him. I like Manny but this is BS.
Pacquiao will lose like a mother****er he dumps Roach. Roach made him what he is. If he doesnt have Roach, he will revert back to his old left hand favoritism habits and lose his defensive skills. I love Manny, but he is not a smart fighter. He is highly trained fighter, not a pugilist specialist. In fact, he is pretty goddamn dumb. He is basically a physical specimen that Roach has crafted. He wouldnt be half the fighter he is without Roach. If Roach doesnt train Manny for Cotto, Cotto is going to kick his ass, I guarantee it.
