Lennox Lewis is, imo, the #3 heavyweight of all time. He must be Top5 for everyone.

His most significant win? Holyfield. Others could be Ruddock, Mercer, Tyson or Klitschko.

 

The win over Tyson isn't even in his top 10.

Historically significant perhaps, but relevant...... hardly.

Mike was shot to bits, Lennox was past his best as well.

A over-weight Lennox gathered his balls and determination under the heavy fire of prime Vitali. THAT makes LL the champion. And - as much as I'd like to have seen a rematch - if he realized he'd be struggeling to gather his determination again, it was better for him to turn down the rematch. That way he hurt Vitali more than by facing him again.

Frank Bruno controlled Lewis from the outside as well - and was more dominant than Vitali IMO.

 

Honestly :roll: Top 3? WTF are you talking about? LL's best win was against a shot Holyfield a guy he couldnt even KO despite having massive physical advantages.

The rest frankly were insignificant. The Tyson fight meant absolutely nothing. It only happened because of the sheer amount of money involved. As for the Mercer fight some gave that to Mercer. It was a close fight but certainly not a fight that LL excelled in. The same goes for Ruddock. Ruddock was never the same after the Tyson fights. Even Tommy Morrison knocked out Ruddock. The Vitali fight left more questions than it did answers. LL reneged on the rematch and chose to retire instead. A fight that he was loosing on points.

Great fighters ATG's dont loose by KO to journeymen. LL was a classic right time right place guy who reigned when the division was supremely thin and most of the great heavies were way past there best.

 

Frank Bruno nearly knocked his ass out! Briggs nearly did the same. LL wasnt a heavy that was captivating. He was great to watch when you lit a fire under him as in Rahman 2 bout but most of the time he was an aloof fighter who carried himself above the fans and the sport with a no frills careful approach fighting style.

When i watch Shaq play ball i dont want to see him lay the ball up. I want to see him tear the rim off. LL never fought like heavy. He really thought he had some excellent boxing skills - of which he did - but when people watch the heavyweights we want to see KO's we want action and knockouts. LL endeared himself to no one. He just wasnt fan friendly or aggresive enough for me. A big man but he never fought like one.

 

yeah id agree with that the fight probably wouldve finshed in the same way had it gone on.... vitali on his feet against the ropes

 

Rahman and McCall just weren't much good at all, and Lewis lost to them BADLY.
I think that puts him way outside the top 5 of all-time.
