Interesting analysis. I do see where you are coming from, it was noticeable Calzaghe changed from a more aggressive gameplan to pretty much jabbing from the outside, his combinations of flurries were not as often as usually seen in a Calzaghe fight because he kept getting hit when he tried...hard. It was the most conventional I've ever seen Calzaghe fight. The pattern changes quite noticeably after 4 or 5 rounds.

It will be interesting to see how effective Ward's jab is, or whether he's simply going to look to utilize handspeed to get his shots off and then look to spoil when he gets in close. I'm also curious to see how effective his switching stance will be.

Clueless about Ward? Has Ward held any title? No.

Did Ward dominate a fight for 9 rounds against an undefeated world champion? (the KO was a sick temple shot, prior to that, in his 10th fight, Mundine was dominating Ottke)

Has Ward beaten the likes of Green, or Geale, or Soliman, or Echols?

PS, Joe doesn't need Kessler to prove himself - Joe has three undisputed HOF fighters in his career to fall back on.

The fact that you can't argue against timing and the fact that you try to denigrate Calzaghe's greater skillset -that of boxing - that which he won the fight against Kessler with - rather than brawling (because it was ineffective) makes me laugh.

Really, your attempt to **** on European fighters is what bought you here.

Trust me, I highly doubt there is a more informed pundit on the 168lb division than I am, that's the division I would have boxed in had I gone past amateur rankings and is what I consider the "Average Man" division as most average men seem to be 6'1, 170lb.

Calzaghe had the ability to change up and box, and unlike Ward, Calzaghe is a master class boxer, great footwork, also has impeccable timing, great judge of distance and can deliver shots from angles that Ward wouldn't even dream of.

We also know how solid Calzaghe's chin is - if Ward gets hit with any of those uppercuts Kessler hit Calzaghe with in the first few rounds, it's game over.

Wow I touched you didnt I??

Are you serious??? Greem, Geale, soliman and Echols??? HUH???

Look man this isnt about Calzaghe, which is what you are REALLY tring to make this about. the fact that you are using a fighter in a fight were he changed from his normal style(brawling) and went to a boxer to beat kessler doesnt prove that Kessler can beat Ward..The fact that that is Wards natural style of fighting to start with. Im not sure I get the logic.

Ward not having won a title before his fight with Kessler proves nothing..the fact that NO fighter has ever won a title before winning his first title should show an unbiased eye that shows or proves nothing.

I question Wards mental toughness, talentwise I have no doubt that he has the tools to not only beat kessler but to do so in clear clean fashion. Not having done it however doesnt prove that he cant do it.:good

    You didn't touch me, fella.

    Green - ex champ
    Geale - great amateur pedigree
Soliman - the guy who caused Winky all sorts of problems
Echols - a perrenial contender at the time he fought Mundine.

Look man, yourself - this doesn't need to be about Calzaghe - using Calzaghe to describe why Ward has no chance is very relevant, they're both southpaw fighters who have good handspeed.

The fact that you can't see that and automatically binge on a Calzaghe hate rant shows me how ****ing pathetic you are. You don't see the fact that Ward's natural style as a "boxer" isn't the style Calzaghe used to beat kessler. The only reason you call Ward a "boxer" is because he throws relatively textbook punches when compared to Calzaghe and doesn't do as much on the inside. The fact is that Ward is a combination puncher who possesses a decent jab, but not a world class one.

Kessler will not struggle with Ward's version of boxing, like he did with Calzaghe. That comes down to footwork, timing and angles. Mark my words.

Bookmark this page, come back to it after the fight and have a look at my analysis, then say "PugPower knows his ****" - just like people did after any other fight I've thrown a prediction out there for.

I am a fan of Kessler and I hope he beats Ward.

However, IF he does it will not be easy - and if I had to put money on this fight I would probably put it on Ward.

Now - I would confidently back Kessler against pretty much any other fighter at MW-SMW-LHW, but Ward scares the f$%^ out of me.

It is very difficult to beat Kessler on points, but Ward may be able to do so.

Ref and judges will do their best to help Ward, this is an attempted set-up, but Kessler will spoil it with a knockout. Will ref pick Ward up and try to save him?

    One eye,

When Mikkel fights do you ride in a little sack near his sack or does he use a safety pin and just hook you to the outside of his trunks?

Why should that matter? this is one step away from saying fighter X needs to face an elite mexican boxer. Then fighter X must face an elite black boxer then an elite Philappino boxer...

    Where does it end :huh

The best fight the best end of. No race or nationality required in my eyes. But then again I am not nationalistically driven.

Ward is very skilled and he will surprise a lot of people in this tournament. i feel Kessler is a bit overrated, but I'm glad he is the favorite. More money for me when Ward wins. :D

Not even in the same general league as Kessler.

    Nor probably Abraham either.
