What hype dont you believe? Khan's a World Champion. He fought a good operator in Kotelnik. I dont understand when ppl laud Murray yet always knock someone who has actually achieved something special.
I don't see Khan as on another level to Murray. Roach hasn't transformed him into the new Pernell Whitaker, to me he's still the same guy who was knocked down by Gomez, nearly beaten by Limond and KO'd by Prescott and I still think Murray can beat him.
One thing for sure is that it wont be Khan. Khan wont be fighting anyone who can hurt him. Warren will be protecting his cash cow with WBU type fighters (and there are enough out there) for the rest of his career. The only thing is that Khan does not even have the chin to be able to still be able to defend that title for the next 2 years without suffering another sickening KO defeat. My words are a prophecy. Prescott is a colombian road sweeper for gods sake and he iced khan in under 90 seconds...
In terms of targeting a world title, I'd like to see him get a shot at WBA holder Paulus Moses, who throws lots of punches & is fit but doesn't seem too sharp. And obviously Katsidis, who I believe won some kind of interim belt in dominant win over Escobedo. With the GBP connection, with HBO televising Katsidis' bouts, then this looks the more rewarding. The question is, what to do, to get Murray technically, physically ready for such bouts. And also, what fights to take, that will get him ranked as a top contender. The EBU title sounds logical, Murray being mandatory. However, a slight hiccup? Rumours that McAllister has landed a shot at Mezaache. I'd love to see Murray-Romanov. OK, no obvious reward, no belt, and YR's a deadly accurate puncher. However, YR has low workrate, struggles when backed up, and has been inactive for ages. You beat Yuri, and it's better than beating the EBU champ, YR is the best in Europe, and some of the sanctioning bodies will recognise a guy that beats YR. YR great bridge from Euro to world class... It would obviously mean a lot in British boxing, given YR's record v British fighters. Would love to see Murray win a world title belt, and defend v Prescott one day!
