It is a fact that ITV get very good figures for boxing, but it is also a fact that we don't know what they plan to do with boxing in the future as well. I will point out something that might make a difference, though: OFCOM has recently given the green light for product placement on TV. ITV lost a lot of revenue through advertising contracts going down the swanner last year and boxing was one of the first things that ITV said they'd have to cut to make ends meet. Now, product placement makes huge amounts of cash in America so if and when ITV do it, coupled with the UK starting to come out of the recession, there could be extra money to put towards programmng again. For the time being, let's not get too excited, though. After all, we are all just guessing what is going on in ITV's boardroom meetings. Boxing could quite possibly still get the chop:good.
Gabriel Clarke is a legend.. Could you imagine him during the haye v valuev build up, "So nicolay, i see youve trimmed today?" ...ahh y. Oh hang on theres the cheeky girls!
He is the best thing on that show. I was watching the backstage interviews that i missed on Sat night this morning and he was excrutiating, like having Larry David doing the interviews
one thing we need to realise is that to advertisers the best consumer is women aged 18-30. If theres one show women aged 18-30 do not want to watch its boxing. thats where the problem lies. viewers are irrelivent if you cant sell ad space.
I hope he moves on from ITV4 I just think Hennessy and his fighters need to get back on a big sports station again. So when it comes to world title fights he wont have to worry about getting the fight on UK tv. So be it Sky or ESPN it would make more sense to move from ITV4.
i agree but it should be put on after a big show like that OR on another day or another date. big time boxing has a proven track record. if it's a good match up and marketed then i dont know a fight that hasn't pulled.
