At a time when the whole boxing world was clamouring for this fight, Joe played the *****, and fought Roy's corpse. He wanted to stick around for one more fight, but the Robinson family denied Joe's request to exhume the body.

I don't think Pavlik would have won, but there's no denying that he would have been a handful for Calzaghe. Against most of his opponents, his pressure, speed and awkwardness is enough to keep them on the back foot and stop them getting off for the whole fight. He's never really faced someone who is willing to take one to give one, is prepared for an all-out war, and can punch very hard P4P. Pavlik at his aggressive best would test Calzaghe in a new way, no doubt.

See Calzaghe v Kessler for how Calzaghe can take away the jab of one of the best jabbers in the world.

See Pavlik v Hopkins for how Pavlik fares when he can't land a jab.

It really does come down to that.

Mijares is retired and Dawson's jab is patchy. Ok when he uses it properly. Is that all you got?

It's fairly irrelevant as we're dicussing Pavlik. I take it you aren't claiming him as a better jabber than Kessler?

Calzaghe by decision. I like Pavlik, but he is one dimensional. He would come in straight lines, plodding forward. That would have suited Calzaghe. And he doesn't have the speed to bother Calzaghe, and needs to be set in order to throw punches, whereas slappy could fire shots off effectively from any angle. Joe's unusual style would have bewildered Pavlik.

No one was asked what percent chance Pavlik had of winning. It was simply to chose the likeliest outcome of the four offered. I would say that Joe would most likely win a decision. But Kelly could conceivably win on a given night.

Make your own poll: "What is the chance on any given night that Kelly could beat Calzaghe?" if that's what you want to find out.

The only way Pavlik beats Calzaghe or takes a round off Hopkins is in the warped little minds of his fanclub
