Lovemore Ndou is considering a defense of his IBO welter title against former IBF lightweight champ Philip Holiday.

Holiday 39, who hasn't fought for about 6 1/2 years, lives & trains in Brisbane where he has a gym and trains fighters. Holiday is best known to Aussies as the man who beat Jeff Fenech by KO inside two rounds.

Apparently Ndou said he's very interested in giving Holiday a shot at his title.

    Holiday? I don't think that's such a good fight.

    LOL.

So Ndou wins the title against a guy who had two fights in five years. And may defend it against a guy who hasn't fought for seven years.

Coveted belt that one. Who's sanctioning it? :)

    I agree, good little fight.

    50/50 fight imo.

Hatton is a decent boxer, training and sparring ricky must have been good for him

This news of a Holiday-N'Dou fight does not bode well for the credibility of the IBO welterweight belt.

    Well Francis and PJ

How about you consider the fact that this fight would not be sanctioned? It's just Lovemore throwing out names as he has always done. He might as well say his next defence is against Barry Michael - it's as much chance of happening as Holiday

    Ummm...why would I consider that?

Because Holiday has been inactive and isn't rated in the top 35?

Either was Philip Ndou but he got special dispensation to fight Lovemore for the belt. Why not Holiday?

See the problem is you are deliberately half smart or of limited intelligence that nothing ever gets through. I'm gunna try one more time -

Ndou had fought was rated in the division below and with the loss of points still made it to qualify. Holiday has not fought in years and has lost 25% of his points for every year he has not fought, it would take him a while to get inside the top-50 even. The Top-100 doesn't mean anything more then honestly stating where people are ranked, that's all none of this magically appearing in the top-15 crap when they sign for a title fight. But really - think what you want, you are always gunna but I'm sure I will see you at one of the IBO fights coming up in Sydney soon and we can sit down over coffee and talk about it then.

If pointing out the obvious is being half smart then thanks for the compliment.

Philip Ndou had one fight in five years Phil. Against unheralded Richard Drilzane. Not even arguing this "points awarded" system...are you seriously saying that THIS part of his career allowed him to rack up enough points to contest a world title? I just can't accept that. Plus I am confused. Do you lose points or carry over points when you change divisions?

Back to the "carry-over points'. See, this is equally as confusing/ridiculous. We have divisions for a reason. Being a good feather, doesn't mean a good lightweight etc etc. But jumping divisions means you jump the IBO ranking queue in a lot of cases. refer Green.

Problem is...the public will never know why fighter "A" is ranked so highly in a new division because your points awarded scheme is kept secret. So no one knows how many points each fighter has in the bank. Great for transparency huh? I know you did mention a reason that had something to do with manipulation by promoters, but is that any worse than a system that appears open to manipulation by the IBO itself ?

Because in effect...a fighter jumps a division and ends up with a rather high ranking. Now at this point, you have an in-built reason for it that can't be challenged i.e. "he had enough carry over points to warrant his ranking in the new division". I take it this is what has happened with Heriberto Ruiz's #17 ranking at featherweight. But here's the thing...Ruiz has had one fight at featherweight and that was against a guy who had 1w and 22 losses. That much we know for sure and certain. So one fight at featherweight against a tomato can (far worse record than my filos lol) meant that Ruiz is the #17 rated lightweight in the world??? Pllllease.

Unless you make your confusing points system available for public consumption, the credibility of the fights you sanction is open to question. Their is nothing logical or progressive with your rankings as far as what I or anyone else can see in the public domain. All your explanations come from calculations that occur behind closed doors.

Flat white half a sugar. Your shout.
