Byrd was a weak and inactive champion. He got brutally KTFO'd by Ibeabuchi, was well on his way to being shut out against VK, then shut out against Wlad, won the title against a faded Holyfield courtesy of Don King, then got 3 gifts in a row against Oquendo, Golota and McCline...and then goes on to put on one of the most boring title fights in history against Darryl Williamson. He may have been one of the luckiest boxers of the 2000's, along with John Ruiz...

Did you see the way Wladimir sent Byrd to the canvas? Multiple times?

That first right hand knockdown was brutal. Byrd was a bloody mess.

If the Walker sparring session is even true, and I doubt it, that's all the haters got. IT would be just a sparring match regardless.

That's why they don't score those. :thumbsup

Yeah, right. Vitali comes back after four years and fights the reigning WBC titleholder who has only one loss without tuneup, in his second fight defends against a mandatory...

Let me guess, you probably predicted Peter would smash Vitali because of ring rust? Chambers, Povetkin, if Vitali would fight them you wouldn'tbe happy either I guess. Haye didn't want Vitali and Arreola did, so what's wrong with taking fights with fighters that are actually willing to step in the ring?

 pretty much BUT he is pretty fast, and he has some very good boxing skills. He's like a homeless man's Larry Holmes.

Carefully picked? Are out of your mind? Gomez was a mandatory fight. Arreola was ranked at #1.

For example David Haye refused to fight Johnson. It speaks enough for his qualities.

Sounds like the poster boy for the current heavyweight division.

Stay busy fight for Klitschko. It is absolutely his right after fighting the WBC champion Peter, the mandatory Gomez and the #1 undefeated Arreola. People who critisize it are complete idiots. If Klitschko wouldnt fight in December nobody would complain. I hate these ****ers!

He isn't even close to being the mandatory. He's like the #6 contender.

Edit: He's probably moved up one because Arreola lost. But, sadly, Ray Austin, Oleg Maskaev, Manuel Quezada and Alexander Povetkin are all ranked ahead of him.

You have to look at it like this - lefttoe is not a "hater", it's his angle to mess around. If the Klitschkos wouldn't exist, he would mess around on "the goofy euros in the NBA", white NBA players, how Federer would lose every day of the week vs. the 1930s players, etc, etc.

Klitschko should have fought Oleg Maskaev, easy fight, and he can shut him up for coming with a corner stoppage on a hand injury in the 1980s as "KOing him in the amateurs". But I suppose he doesn't fancy giving him millions for that, it's more punishing to tell him he could have got 5 millions if he had been less disrespecting, now he gets zilch other than a couple of guys on the internet applauding him.

Good post. Yes Johnson' is totally undeserving, but who really is besides povetkin and chambers? Maybe Tony Thompson (don't know if he's available but he put in a decent showing with Wlad and he'd make it interesting for a minute)? Maybe Tua (Cameron is probably better than Johnson's comp and we know Tua'd at least have a punchers chance but he's only had 1 fight in well over a year, plus no idea if the fight could be made)...... Not too much else to even consider IMO. So this isn't that bad a choice, because a lot of fans see Johnson as 'a good up and commer' if not a contender yet. Plus, Johnson's got fast hands/ good reflexes so he should be able to score a bit (unlike Peter and Arreola), so the scorecard shouldn't be a total domination (if Johnson survives). Johnson can punch too when he actually commits to his punches. If Vitaly, plans to stay busy I don't have a problem
