I am thinking about how Sky and Frank can promote the PPV show and improve on the rumoured poor figures from the Khan-Kotelnik fight. And as well as that also how to make it feasable for Sky to have the Pavlik-Williams fight and make the PPV exciting and worth paying for.

Firstly I think that Sky could put the Williams-Pavlik fight with the Clottey-Quintana undercard on regular Sky. That way it doesn't touch the cut of money that FW or Khan would get and I think it is practical because you know that we will all watch that fight and with Khan being on the same night a number of casuals will watch provided it gets a decent build up (or otherwise known as the Sky hype train). The only problem is would everyone be happy to part with £15 to watch Khan-Salita, Mitchell-Burns and Clev v whoever for the Euro?

Another idea I had that could add in a few buys would be to take a leaf out of UFC's book and show a portion of the card on regular Sky before the PPV begins. I'm thinking the three Olympians in six rounders and imbetween they could show a number of hype videos for the Khan fight and the main undercard fights.
The aim of this would be to draw in decent numbers to watch boxing before the PPV starts and scrape up the last of any potential buys. Lets be honest we all have friends that are casaul fans and when ever I watch boxing with them all they are interested in is the Main event so why not the 3 best and most exciting fights on the PPV (Khan-Salita, Clev euro, Mitchell-Burns) because those are the big fights that will make the boxing fans buy the card and the only thing the casauls care about is the Khan fight. By having the Olympians on regular Sky you would get them greater exposure then having them on the PPV you would also have a greater time allotment so that would guarentee them 6 rounders rather then 4 and with their name recognition they bring maybe they could draw a decent figure for Sky and after watching those fights and a few of the hype videos (that they lap up) maybe it could persuade them to buy the PPV.

What does everybody think is it a feasable idea, would it be too costly to produce and would it make much difference to a) increasing the PPV sales and b) making the Pavlik-Williams fight economically viable for Sky?

Just a few ideas I had. What do you think?

I do not think that a percentage of the PPV revenue would go to Top Rank. They would just pay the standard fee, maybe a little bit more which is not that much in terms of overall PPV revenue.

I think it could work really well as the US show is East Coast and wont be to late. You wouldnt put part of the card on Sky Sports, just have part of it free to air on Sky Box Office. So you could have

9am - Clev for Euro Title
    10am - Olympians
make these fights free to air, and from 11am you would need to pay for the PPV.

11am - Other title fight (Chisora for British?)
    12am - Mitchell vs Burns
    1am - Khan vs Salita
    2am - US fight
    3am - Clottey vs Quintana
    4am - Pavlik vs Williams

    8 hours of quality fights.

Common sense would tell you that Top Rank would just charge the basic fee but this is boxing and promoters are scroungy *******s so they probably would try and ask for a cut of the PPV revenue.

I hate having the Olympians on a PPV especially as chief support, especially seeing as they tend to push out the better more meaningfull fights. I like the idea of sticking them on six rounders on regular Sky before the PPV begins with a load of videos promoting the show that way they can help bring in a few more buyers and they don't interfere with what I'm paying for.

They did this with Khan last December he was on against ***in, which obviously nobody would buy on Box office, then they also showed Rogan and Harrison, Maccarinelli vs Ellis and a few other british fights then went and showed the undercard from Vegas then ODH vs Pac man.

I'd definately pay if they had Khan plus some decent undercard fights, plus williams vs Pavlik, that'd be a great night in

Honestly, if they just do like they did last year with Khan then DLH v Pacman for this then I'll buy it. If we just get Khan and no Pavlik v Williams then I'm out.

I've always preferred a double-header PPV as it just seems more value for money, 8 hours or so instead of just 3 for a UK PPV.

Thats if I don't go, but Newcastle is awkward being up north. A PPV double-header and I'll watch at home.

pavlik vs williams and i'll gladly hand them my 15 quid, thats my fight of the year watch this freak of natures coming out party, well one could argue that was against Margarito, but this a little different its more mainstream, The punisher is just something to be hold, the only fighter that beats Floyd IMHO.

How can anyone not like him, just a beast! i call him homicide hank junior, he's terrorizing 3 weight classes, remains to be seen though how he takes a middleweights punch as that Winky fight was not enough of a gauge, but the guy is just a phenom...6 foot, southpaw, 100 punches a round, can fight backwards, fight different ways, can pitch from the mound with that humangeous reach (longer then Ali's and most heavyweights) the outrageous wingspan, awesome stamina and output (I think i'm in love lol) all equals just to much work for the youngstown ghost. Watch him do the "cha" "cha" as jack lowe shouts for the double jab and Kelly is offset can't do anything with the basic 1, 2 and gets countered, peppered and beaten on the cards.

I like Robs night of boxing but more likely is that Sky will ppv the Warren show and only show the Olympians and Khan while saving the rest of the bill such as Clev and the Burns vs Mitchell fight for the weekend after. While also not showing Williams vs Pavlik.

I'm not paying for a Khan fight again. The last one sold to us mainly due to the Hall-Small and Enzo fights but instead PPV buyers had to watch Olympians punching **** out of area level guys and below. Now they're giving us Mitchell-Burns in the hopew that, that will persuade people to buy.

Mitchell and Burns should be prime time on SS1 where everyone can see it not hidden away on a Khan 'undercard'. Khan-Salita isn't even a world class match up. Kotelnik beats unproven Rees, draws with the unproven french dude and beats a shot abdullev and he's world class? Not really. Salita doesn't even come up with better wins then that. Don't get me wrong they are both talented but neither are 'world' championship class. (ie top 4-5 in the division) they are barely top 15-20.

  12. khan vs salita is not ppv worthy, no way
