Why has this guy got such a lofty ranking and is considered a more meaningfull opponent than Murray?I dont know a lot about Salita but his record is one of fighting nobodies and in his last fight he fought a guy who has lost 11 of 15 bouts mostly by KO and Salita went the distance with him(the guy was then KO'D in round 1 the fight after)!Perhaps you guys can enlighten me because i know hes a mandatoryt, but it just looks to me like Warren has waved his magic wand again and plucked a handpicked featherfisted opponent out!

Murray has yet to beat anyone above ok domestic class. Salita is a far harder and opponent and a bigger risk than Murray.

Murray just beat a guy who lost to Tom Glover.

You can't blame Warren for this one I'm afraid. Salitas credentials for being mandatory may be questionable but that doesn't mean Murray should be anywhere near there either.

Murray is still in domestic class (and doing well), but he shouldn't be challenging for a world title just because he was born down the road from Khan.

Fabian Luque who was Salitas last TKO victim was stopped a round quicker by Martin Gethin the fight before!

Murray is still fighting domestic fighters. Murray has still not even hinted at moving up a level. Salita has made a name for himself in America and got himself into a decent position with the world bodies. Murray offers no risk and no reward, no one in country will care if Khan beats Murray and it will mean nothing in America so full credit to Khan for going after the better opponents than just been spoon fed guys like Thaxton, Lawton and Meager.

Speaking of Gethin he's been unlucky since Fewkes. Gethin vs Murray would be a good fight IMO

LOL,"credit Khan for going for better guys".If that was his blueprint he would have fought Murray and Thaxton long since. The guy avoids risk more than any fighter in history.

At the moment Salita is a whole level above Murray. He's probably slightly lucky to be mandatory but he's a New York based Jew who has had decent promoting and they've got him in position quite well for his title shot.

Its not a 'joke match up' or a 'con'. Its a solid enough defence against a world class (if light punching) boxer.

Murray get's nothing but praise for beating a shot Thaxton. Khan got derided for beating a shot Barrera. People have got an agenda here.

I take it the real reason behind this thead is as a thinly veiled Khan bashing exercise?

Well that is obvious, Murray went life and death with Hamidi a few fights ago.
