Zico, who is Haye? Solis beat him up in the amateurs...Will do the same to him in the pros even weighing 260lbs...Too much skills and amateur accomplishments for Haye to handle...Haye is just a ( artificial muscled up cruiser ), at least Solis is 100% natural.

Because he's enjoying his life and freedom now that he's not enslaved by Communist arseholes.

Solis should be a cruiserweight. Got no HW power and doesn't seem to have that something special to make up for his lack of size (disregarding his stomach).

Hopefully Monte has been training, because this should be a good opportunity to get in the mix for another payday. Barrett is game, is a real HW, and is exciting even if he can't beat top contenders.

I like Barrett but at this point I think he's just showing up for a paycheck. He'll put up a token fight and then go down in less than 3. Solis gains little by fighting Barrett.

Even if Solis was in shape, he'd weigh 220 or so. He's no cruiser anymore. He was like 20 or 21 when he fought at 201 in the Olympics.

Too much is made of Solis' power, IMO - but yeah it may be enough to crack poor old Monte.

You got a point in hindsight, he is pushing 30 now and maybe boiling down to 200 isn't even a possibility. Let's just hope he gets himself down to 220 or so and can provide some excitement at the hw level, just didn't see it from the 1 pro bout i saw (where he looked somewhat ordinary)

Cliff Couser knocked him out in 2 not that long ago. As long as you're aggressive and accurate with decent power, he should get KOed at this point. Solis fits the bill.

    :thumbsup

Looks like I'll get my heavyweight KO fix after all...of course, I bought my ticket with the express purpose of watching Johnson knock Solis out, but I guess paying customers can't be choosers. :conf :yep

Nah, i cant see it happening. Solis wont have the speed and sharpness he had in the amatuers, or the stamina needed in the pro's, when he's dragging around 2 chins and a massive belly. He beat Haye in the amatuers yes, but nearly got knocked out in the first round - if that was a pro fight, he wouldnt have got a standing 8 and time to recover. If Solis was in shape and training properly, then it would be a heck of a fight between Haye and him, but in his current condition i wouldnt give him much of a chance.

Why do people keep calling Solis fat? He's not thin, but he's very solidly build. He doesn't have multiple chins or a belly, and while his weight has stayed steady at 250, it's clear by looking at him that a lot of what was fat early in his career has become muscle. The way everyone's describing him, you'd think Solis was the guy on the right, not the guy on the left.

With all due rspect, Brickman, this is the same crap we always heard when Peter was putting on the weight: "you can see his rib cage, he is big boned..." **** like that.

Solis has fought over fifty pound heavier than his meddle weight. He looks like a completely differrent person. 250ish is not a good weight for a man his height, and some of his fights, talking specifically about the Mazakin fight, look damn fishy as if they are finding guys to do what they are paid for.

I get it that guys in his country don't always get enough to eat, but that does not change the fact that this is his job, and at this weight, he is only a slightly above average fighter, even in this depleted division. He should start doing his road work or take his lumps like a man, but they should stop trying to sell him as the next big thing as third, fourth, fifth and sixth teir guys with padded records fall over for him, when clearly, he isn't. At least not until he get serious.

Post Script: I tell a lie- he has foght over 60 pounds heavier than his meddle weight.
