Hernandez retired after he fought Floyd. He was on the tail end of his career, JESUS CHAVEZ? :rofl i thought we were going through great fighter ? Corrales was weight drained to **** as well. But hey Pacs wins over.. Sasakul Ledwaba Barrera 1 JMM These dont count???
And what's with wanting respect for a great fighter now(Floyd) then turning around and trashing a legend like Manos De Piedra Duran? It's hypocrytical and shameful as well as ignorant to just how special Duran was. To demean him for only beating one of the ATG quartet(Leonard, Benitez, Hearns, and Hagler) is just nonsense. Any fighter in the history of the sport around their weightclasses would not find it easy to beat ONE of these guys. It makes no sense to foolishly sink to the levels of the ones you're arguing with. :nono
You don't understand because you probably haven't been following boxing very long, and perhaps don't know what Barrera was like pre 2003. The first Barrera fight was a good win, but I wouldn't say GREAT win. Barrera had lost a step or two, perhaps even three. It was common knowledge after the first Morales fight that Barrera had left something in the ring. His fight with Tapia and Kelly were proof enough that teh relentlesness in Barrera wasn't there anymore. The same relentlessnes that made him what he was. By the time Pac fought Barrera, even though Barrera was still good, he wasn't what he was in his prime. Have you heard the term in boxing, "Last Hurrah"? That's what the Pac-Morales I fight was. Morales was on the decline, he lost to an aging MA Barrera, beat Pac (last hurrah), Lost to Zahir Raheem, Lost to Pac, Lost to Pac, Lost to Diaz. You ask when Morales was shot? By the time he fought Zahir Raheem, Morales was shot.
I've been away for a week and this is the first thread I've read since being back. The ability of the Floyd fans to twist history and truth around to fit their views of their hero is so bizarre to me. I think they psychologically need to have a hero that is "invincible" like a comic book superhero or something, it makes them feel close to the idea of being invincible themselves. Crazy that they'll argue that Hernandez was prime at the time of the Floyd fight(that alone is insane), was way too small (ha ha, Herndandez wasn't small!) for DLH, therefore claiming indirectly that Floyd was the first to beat Herndandez!!! These guys are not all there in the head:deal Poor guys
Being on a magazine dont mean your gonna win your next fight tho, he better not let all that BS go to his head before getting in there with Cotto or he`s fried chicken.
True, that was one war too many for the great Morales, he left any trace of his prime in that last rd... the southpaw round.
hmm says . . . I collect the Ring boxing magazines. It's too bad I'm in Taiwan and they don't have any boxing magazines what-so-ever.
Its a cut and dry as that. When it comes to sells, don't take it personally. If John Ruiz was marketable he'd be on the cover.
