Easily Mike Weaver. Prime John Tate and Carl Williams are better than any skilled big man vitali ever beat. Gerrie Coetzee is better than any puncher vitali ever beat. Even Quick Tillis back in his prime undefeated was quicker and skilled as any man vitali beat.

We have to remember the majority of vitalis best wins came over old men(Norris, Sanders, Donald).... or out of shape men (Johnson, peter)....not vitali's fault, but clearly the truth. kirk johnson looked like a behomoth whale that night.

I thought Weaver won the rematch with Dokes but they called it a draw. Tate was a big win and so was Coetzee, I would say Weaver as far as opponents but Mike was a loser until the Holmes fight, then he grew in confidence but the same could be said about Vitali who grew in confidence after the Lewis fight.

    Weaver beat better opposition.

In losing efforts, Weaver gave hell to a better, prime Holmes than the old, heavy Lewis that Vitali gave hell to.

I agree Weaver has the better resume, but you're oversimplifying everything as usual.

Donald beat Valuev in many peoples eyes years before Vitali beat him. Donald was hardly washed up or a product of innumerable ring wars.

Also, that "old man" in Sanders blew out a man you think ridiculously highly of in Wladimir. Age and appearance is far less important then what Corrie accomplished the fight prior to the Vitali one.

Why even list Johnny Duplooy, James Pritchard and Burt Cooper?...These guys are not big wins. Heck Danny Williams who is not even listed on Vitali's resume in this thread is better than these three. I'd take Orlin Norris over those guys as well.

I think the main difference is Vitali easily defeated the above names here while Weaver often had his hands full in victory.

Orlin Norris fought Vitali for a PAYCHECK. You're a good poster Mendoza but don't even start with that fight not being a glorified "get me the **** out of here" quitjob. Orlin was known for that late in his career, go watch the Tyson fight.

And remember how old Weaver was when he fought Cooper, not to mention Cooper was a FAR more dangerous opponent than Williams or Norris could ever hope to be.

Duplooy was a massive puncher as well, which is even more impressive that Weaver managed to beat him at a advanced age.

He was maybe the only fighter to ever lay out the ultra tough Everett Martin, which Wladimir Klitschko utterly failed to do, twice, against a far older Martin.

AND Martin was actually the first fighter to go the distance with Wlad back when Wladimir was a offensive machine.
