Reguardless of whether it was damage he took prior to the fight or from the damage he took in the fight(somthing we will never know).........Carl Froch is NOT ****ing Nigel Benn. McClellan finished his opponets quick, his Ko's came early and that makes me believe if he fought Froch it would end in the early rounds of the fight.

I don't know, Benn, who is one of my favourite fighters, and Froch were pretty similar, although Froch is bigger. Very similar KO ratio, similar gung ho attitude. Froch is a big puncher whereas Benn was a HUGE puncher, I think Mclellan vs Froch would have been a war which could have gone either way. There certainly would have been no easy win for either of them.

That's the way it always is. Twenty years from now Pacquiao destroys Joe Schmo by first round KO. Floyd KO's this guy in 3 rounds, etc. I stay away from threads like these because nobody knows who would win.

If I said Hasim Rahman would KO Lennox Lewis (before they fought) I would be laughed out of here and there would be a ton of insults and what not.

All I do know is that this would be an exciting fight. G-Man and Froch are very good fighters.

I have to go with McClellan here. I like Froch, but if Taylor hurt him then G-Man could do more.

It would be a great war, though. Froch could win if he could land enough, but I think G-Man's power and speed would be too much.

Both are big punchers, but the difference in this fight would be speed. McClellan would hurt Froch early and often. Froch would take a pounding and keep coming for more, but by round 6 either the ref or the doc steps in.

Both are big. strong, hit very hard, have a big punch and a sturdy chin so I don't think it's as one sided a fight as some would think. But while Mcclellan had a poor defence, Froch's defence is even worse and I think GMan was a better boxer as well and was a little quicker. Mcclellan by KO in 6

    Let's see...

Froch has met at least two people from the top 10:

    Taylor
    Pascal

Gerald has also met exactly two people from the top 10:

    Benn
    Jackson

    _______________

Both Gerald's top 10 opponents were known to be strong, but technically rather crude fighters.

Both Froch's opponents were known as rather strong and technically good fighters.

    __________________

    Froch beat both his opponents.

Gerald beat one and was KTFO by the other.

    ______________________

Conclusion: Take away the BS surrounding Gerald, and Froch seems the objective favorite. Gerald could not beat C-level fighters on points, so his only chance is a KO. Against Froch he could easily run into a KO himself. Overall - Froch should be the favorite here.

I think this would be a war right from the start but the g-man would be landing far more punches in the exchanges. I think Froch gets stopped around the second round.

You are actually comparing Jermain Taylor and Jean Pascal to Julian Jackson and Nigel Benn?

    You fail. :gsg

I like Froch's temperament and actually hope he does well in the SS though I think he is quite beatable.

We never even got to see how special McClellan would have been at SMW as he matured into his early 30s. He had the obvious and undeniable talent to reign at SMW for a long time as he would have overpowered and raped the guys who eventually held the belts at that weight.

This fight isn't even a close one in any respect.

McClellan by KO. Probably early due to Gerald's take no prisoner no bull**** approach.

technically benn and froch are similar fighters, both very strong and somewhat crude, with relatively poor defence (based mostly on physical toughness). i pick froch to win.
