this thread really tears me apart.i loved benn and grew up on him ...but i made the mistake of reading his book .And i came out with a bad taste ,the guy seems a total arrogent ****wit .Im sorry but that is the opnion i formed form reading the book ...i wish i hadent read it and still had the previous opnion but i fnd it hard to seperate the person form the fighter

Following on from his short lived career as a DJ

 

He was a man of the people. He became friends with a handicap kid who was in a wheelchair (the kid was a big fan) and got the kid and his mum ticket for all his fights.

Not many fighters like Benn who are willing to go that extra step to give something back to those less fortunate and the guy never seeks cheap publicity for it either.

The guy should be knighted.

i used to like hearing reg gutteridge (the great one) commentating on nigel benn and mentioning that they were both former fusiliers.two legends

 

i like Reg and RIP, but i'm i the only one who didn't think much of his commentating? he just sounded so bored and could make the most thrilling fights look so bland and like a sparring session.

 

i loved reg and he's probably got 1,000's of fans on here.even my wife was upset when he died.
