To be honest, while I do see a smaller, exceptionally talented fighter like Louis beating Vitali, I can't see the likes of Schmeling or Sharkey doing it.
I'm staying clear of this one.

Ahem, you must have missed the memo. Dr. Z doesn't post here anymore. A moderator who went by the name of Kurt Vonnegut and Reggie Hammond was banned forever by scamming the forum with a pay pal website that promised ESB boxing t-shirts in exchange for mone.y .

He ran up over $1,000.00, and never sent anything. When word got out that he was a scamer, I was one who called him out. The moderator in question then went haywire, and banned anyone he disagreed with, including Dr. Z so those who were banned had to picked a new poster name.

I would agree with that. Yet a fighter like Schemling did defeat Louis, an badly exposed his lack of defense, predictable footwork, and less than stellar chin.

Unbelievable. Do you reallythink boxing is the only sport that hasn't evolved since the 1930's? Schmeling beating Wlad? I am German and adore Schmeling, but come on, the was a 6'1 fighter with not footwork. His counters would never find Wlad, the difference in height and reach would require immense speed and movement. Vitali had no skilled fighters against him that can be compared to Sharkey? Donald or Johnson had better skills than Sharkey, Byrd was as slick as they get and without Vitali's injury he would have never beaten him.

I can't believe how sentimental some people are about the old timers. Joe Louis was great and all, but he was a ****ing midget compared to Vitali. Could he beat Vitali? Yes. Would it be probable? No.

I'd give him a 30 pct. chance of beating VitKlit, and that's being pretty generous I think.

Donald's claim to fame was beating a 44 year old Holyfield.
Johnson weighed 260 lbs for Vitali ,10 lbs more than him!
The fact that you have to mention such "never wassers" as arguments of Vitali's ability to beat skilled men ,shows the paucity of" real meat" in his record.

like at least 80% of the cws today had there not been a cw division and they shouldn't have to make weight.

Watch him fight & tell me honestly that he's better than Vitali.

Arreola, just like all of Vitali's opponents, became a clubfighter AFTER Vitali beat him. Strange huh? Buddy Baer was not a great fighter & neither was Galento or Braddock. Those wins are no better than beating Ray Austin, the guy Wladimir beat with one hand tied behind his back.

So I guess Schmeling was a better fighter than Vitali too right?

Amazing how you guys can all picture Louis knocking out Vitali when it's never been done yet a decent fighter KO'd Louis pretty easily.

I suggest actually watching their loses as well as their wins before making the assumption that the fight would go one way or the other.
