    In the Ottke - Reid fight.. Reid had a point deducted for hitting Ottke in the face

    Every region has home cooked decisions. Even the US

    I'd say Italy is the worst country in Europe for judging.

    The scorecards are generally right, it's just the person with the most points that is the problem.... usually the wrong guy.

    In Germany you see plenty of strange cards, but its generally the right guy with his arm raised.

    The UK generally treats foreign fighters fairly in judging, refereeing less so IMO. The biggest thing with judging in the UK is between two British fighters - the fighter who is with the promoter of the show ALWAYS gets the nod (if it's a sole judge/referee) unless he is schooled.

    Basically if it's a close fight in Germany then the home-town fighter will almost always get the decision, deserving or undeserving. That's not a good thing, however it also happens in other european countries (if not as often), and, oh yes, it happens in the US too.

    There have been exceptions though: Henry Maske-Virgil Hill I was a close fight where Maske deserved the nod, but Hill got the decision. Ironically, Maske-Hill II ten years later was also a close fight where Hill deserved the nod imo, but Maske got the decision this time..

    Another example is Dariusz Michalzewski vs. Julio Cesar Gomez, a close fight where a faded DM prevailed in my book, but Gomez won by split decision

    It's largely nonsense. Maybe a little more inconsistent than the u.s. but at least as good as the scoring in the uk. The officials involved in the Ottke-Reid farce weren't even German.

    Outsiders getting decisions in Germany over German fighters;

    Eubank-Rocchigiani
    Schulz-Botha (Axel robbed!)
    Moorer-Schulz
    Akinwande-Schulz 2 (Fight 1 was a draw. Gift draw for Schulz?)
    Hill-Maske
    Rocchigiani-Thompson
    Nelson-Petkovic
    Beyer-Sanavia
    Vidoz-Hoffman
    Rivera-Trabant
    Klose-Trabant
    Harris-Urkal
    Erdei-Ulrich
    Garay-Braehmer

    Outsiders getting robbed in Germany vs German fighters;

    Brewer-Ottke 1
    Ottke-Reid (referees behaviour was worse than scoring)
    Ottke-Tate 1 (should've been a tko win for Tate)
    Nunn-Rocchigiani
    Lucas-Beyer

    Outsiders being shafted against the non-german house fighter in Germany;

    Ruiz-Valuev 1
    Valuev-Donald
    Erdei-Garay 1 & 2

    I've read DM-Girad 1 was controversial, & Dm-Gonzalez was maybe controversial the other way.

    To be fair. Half way through, Reid wasn't doing brilliantly and by round 5/6 his corner team was already telling him to go for the knockout.

    It was pretty bad though. Ottke gets floored by a right hook (in, I think, the 6th) but the ref doesn't count it as a knock down. It was in that round that the ref really started showing how poor he was but was he just a very bad ref or was he biased? Was reid's team telling him to go for the knockout because they already expected biased judging and reffing?

    EDIT: Actually... here is the fight. I think this vid starts at round 6 because that was the most important round (to me) and really shows what that fight was all about. But if you check the related vids, you will see all the other rounds...

    this is the fight that makes people believe german fighters get decisions. it is so shocking, a round where reid scored a legit kd and ottke should've had a point off for holding, the referee scndalously took a point off reid for a nothing headbutt. 10-7 becomes 8-10...it gets me angry watching it.

    Hmm. When you say home fighters...?

    It seems to be specifically mainland Europeans and especially those from Germany in the West through to Russia in the East, via Poland and the Balkans.
    Specifically fighters who train out of Germany though.

    Ottke fishing for the point deduction as well. Claiming some non headbutt. Total disgrace.

    Worst part of Lucas-Beyer: Beyer doesn't throw a single landing punch in the 12th that is rather an easy round to score for Lucas and all of the judges gave it to Beyer.

    Bollocks!!

    That's just taking it too far! There is no evidence at all of racism in the results and it is wrong of you to bring race and racism in to it!

    Also, what is it with America and there juggling of ethnic terms?
    How can anyone use the phrase "people/person of colo(u)r" and not find that extremely patronising and offensive?

    But it seems that this is now the phrase to use when describing a black person in America.

    It's always by those fair skinned, blue/green/hazel/grey eyed, brown/blonde/red/ginger/mousey haired people... (y'know... those people of no colour?) who come up with these stupid terms and phrases too.

    It's ****ing weird!

    Part of it is HOW judges are chosen. I remember Pantera2000 saying in Florida judges for all fights are appointed by the commission. Other places it is only championship fights. I heard one analyst say point blank that if a judge wants to "work" for a promoter they know what is expected. So it doesn't matter WHERE they are from in this case.

    I have heard, and heard it denied, Saurland is his own commission. Just too many variables to answer the original question because I have NO idea how judges and refs are chosen in Germany for ANY fight.
