Was he any better then, say another down to earth, blue collar white fighter of the late 70's and 80's like Bobby Czyz?

What did Sean have going for him?

Sad to say, I've never heard of him before.
    Was he journeyman status Russell?

    Sean?

I don't know if he'd be considered a journeyman, he was never a real test for up and comers. You could call him a glorified club fighter I suppose, for much of his career.

He had more heart than Bobby anyway.

Would you put him as a Mickey Ward type then?
Or is that even too high for Grady?

How did Bobby have no heart?

Hard to say, Lopez was a higher caliber fighter then most anyone Ward ever fought. Sean didn't step up in class too often.

Never said that, or are you craftily suggesting O'grady had barely any?.;)

This one is better viewed first-hand rather than told on a forum for maximum hilarity.Let's just say it concerns Bobby's commentating on others and then the hilarious hypocrisy of his subsequent actions as a fighter.

Check out the pre-fight stuff before his first fight with Charles Williams, his comments on retiring due to injuries, Roldan etc...

Then the way Bobby goes out on his shield and all Rocky on us in that very fight as well as others later on.

I know Sean O'Grady as a commentator from USA's Tuesday Night Fights. O'Grady won a world title at lightweight, but the only footage I ever saw of him were clips played here and there on that show. O'Grady made a few training segments on the show as well; showing basic workouts with the heavybag, speed bag, double end bag, etc...

I remember reading a little about him in Gilbert Odd's Encyclopedia of Boxing. There is mention of his being ahead on the cards when stopped in the later rounds by Jim Watt due to cuts in what I believe was his first title bid. O'Grady won a title later, but I can't remember who he defeated; nor if he had any defenses.

I do remember his title run was brief. Odd wrote something along the lines of saying that O'Grady was a very tough fighter, but lost his ability to take a punch.

Sean O'Grady? A highly touted, undefeated, contender with a huge KO% -- took a fight with the supposedly "shot" Little Red, and got beat into submission in 4 rounds!

Ogrady was one of the better white fighters. He won and challenged for the title and was not a club fighter, LOL. He was also one of the best boxing commentators for the long running USA Tuesday Night fights. Probably the best running boxing series Ill ever experience in my lifetime. It showcased all the top fighters and was a great platform for young up and coming fighters to get their name known before they hit the big time.

Has anyone ever reproduced that series on DVD?
