Technically unbeaten at the weight. Beat everyone that mattered at the weight in his era, and only left room for debate in one fight (de la Hoya).

Resume very solid with one top level fighter beaten at his best (de la Hoya).

Two wins over top level fighters who were on the down side (Whitaker/Camacho)

Impressive destructions over legit top five fighters at the weight, at the time (Blocker/Campos/Carr)

And finally his make time defences were dealt with impressively and mostly against then legit top ten fighters of the time (Garcia/Turner/Barnes).

I might add a list. I mean there are a lot of recent greats, its just that my knowledge of pre 70s guys is pretty much nonexistant.

    imagine SRR fighting langford.
langford stopped much stronger opponents than SRR , and could have made 147 much longer than he did , because with his talent it wasn't worth for him to maintain 147.
langford's achievements are much more impressing than SRR.
    and langford's smaller.

As much as I like Tito, I can't rate him in top 10. Maybe he has W against DLH but for me it was a gift for Trinidad. He didn't fought Whitaker untill 1999 and Pernell was The Ring #1 WW from 1993 to 1996. He also didn't fought Ike Quartey who for years was one of the best welters out there...and since 99' 147 was invaded by Mosley and Forrest...

I think that Tito's resume could look better at welter

15 title defenses looks good though

Tito Trinidad was great at 147 pounds only; he turned normal at 154 to 160...... Especially at 160...... Trinidad deserves an ATG consideration at 147 in my book.....

Triny's win over DLH in '99 was bull**** but, so was the overall fight.......... Overall, I rate DLH as a better and greater fighter than Trinidad..... Just not at 147 pounds....

Trinidad was about as close to being as powerful as Hearns was at 147, but Trinidad had nowhere near the skills of Hearns in the ring.... Trinidad's dad really was NOT a great trainer of boxing, but he had a chemistry with "Tito."

The only fighters that the Welterweight version of Sam Langford beat were by clean KO and not TKO that i can see on his record are Patsy Sweeney, Willie Lewis and Joe Reed. Which one was much stronger than Sugar Ray Robinson?

Welterweight Langford did not seem to have the same punching record as the older Langford had. I am not sure why.

Welterweight Sams best results (on paper) are wins over Joe Gans, Larry Temple, Young Peter Jackson and Dave Holly, a (apparently dominating) draw with Joe Walcott, and a lost series with Jack Blackburn. Welterweight Sam, certainly lost more than his fair share of fights. A lot more than Welterweight Robinson ever did. I agree that he would be a dangerous fight for Robinson at Welter and even that he could ahve probably made weight longer if he wanted to, but then again someone like Bob Fitzsimmons could say exactly the same. I even tend to suspect, given the number of avenged losses on Sams record that Welterweight sam may even have thrown some or even all of his losses. I even threw him into 10th on my list for the simple reason that he is a danger to everyone (and it made it easy to separate some great fighters). Butat the end of the day, his record is what it is, and at welterweight it is not all that great, compared to what it is at other weights.

By the way, on a separate note, regarding records being what they are, I still see that (unless i have missed it) that no one who left tommy Ryan off their top 10 been able to give a legitimate reason.
