Bingo. Jones had all World talent but was too scared to fight the best and prove it. :deal

for the most part, yes. but his talent was tested in other ways. how many people went from 160...beat bhop...then prime toney, dominate the way he did and then move up to and get a HW strap?? he beat a hw belt holder when he weighed mid 190's. say what you will about ruiz but that is quite an accomplishment (especially when you consider that rico thinks he has no chin and no heart :D)

Its not even that. Jones fought many of the best from his era, but it was a weak era anyway you look at it. No way does he rank over the likes of Micheal Spinks, Ezzard Charles, Sam Langford, Gene Tunney and others at 175.

I respect Roy's accomplishments, but there are others who's accomplishments are more noteworthy at 175. Billy Conn, Ezzard Charles, Micheal Spinks, Archie Moore, Gene Tunney.....Their accomplishments all surpass Roy's though Roy is more talented than all but maybe Charles. Im not blaming him for the era or circumstances he fought in, but I'm not going to take from other fighters just to make room for him. Do you know what I mean?

If Ricky Hatton got rematches with Mayweather and Pacquiao, and knocked them both out cold...

If my auntie had a big hairy pair of bollocks...

Mate, Roy Jones has been shot for years. When he fights low-level comp (Sheika, Lacy, the current version of Tito) he looks good, when he fights high-level comp (Tarver, Johnson, Calzaghe) he gets embarrassed.

If he fought Hopkins, Johnson or Dawson, the result would be the same as when he fought Tarver, Johnson and Calzaghe.

Roy's high-level comp career was over years ago. Wake up.

i take it you're refering to kelly pavlik?

well as a pavlik fan you should be happy it didnt happen because calzaghe would've done a lacy on kelly,he'd have beat him worse than hopkins did.:deal

haha i love it!!!! (and i'm just breaking balls in good fun my man :good)

like clockwork, you bring up pav to a calzaghe fan and immediately they tell you how bad joe would have won. NOT THE POINT!!! who would have won is not the point, the fact that joe called him out over and over and over again and then went and fought rjj even after pav fought his stablemate which was all part of the plan to get the two in the ring.

every joe fan...like a pre-programmed manchurian candidate glosses over this and gives you the pre packaged response of how bad pav would lose.

well you know what, joe probably would have beat kelly at 168 :good i can't argue with that. but you can't argue that joe called him out and then went in another direction. im not using the "d" word here b/c it was a business decision on his part but you can't argue with the fact that he called pav out for months and then didnt follow through.

it's been proven the competition bailed on jones, not the other way around, from larry merchants own mouth in 1997

but tunney is an older era fighter. they get an automatic bye on that part. just cause we don't know the names of the guys he beat, that the competition didn't beat anyone of note should not be held against him. he's OLD and older fighters are better. that's a fact. i saw it on wikipedia

Riko, Jones is a Glass Jawed joke. Gene Tunney would chew him up and spit him out. For the way he is talked about on here Roy's resume is awful. He avoided too many fights that were available to him. He had skills he just refused to take on all challengers of his era. :deal
