Eubank Overrated?

He's underrated, for crying out loud.

This guy played with and stopped Nigel Benn and Michael Watson, years younger than the other boys and without being in with the Barkleys or McCallums. He defended his titles 10, 15, 20 times, knocked down Steve Collins for the first time in his career and should have beat or was beating Carl Thompson twice three weights up.

He beat Malinga easily in a poor performance, understandable considering his previous fight.

Graciano Rocchigiani and Tony Thornton were very solid wins with some very nice work.

He had the longest unbeaten record in the sport, and didn't have it for nothing.

 

I think his rating is about right, to be honest.

 

What's this obsession with Malinga? He wasn't considered the least bit a threat before the fight with Eubank.

Tony Thornton was. And Rocchigiani.

Lindell Holmes was considered over-the-hill. But he looked much better against Eubank than Malinga did, and was much better than Malinga. Holmes is an underrated win for Eubank, he was beating Van Horn before being stopped on a kidney shot.

And in the pre-fight interviews for ITV coverage of Eubank-Holmes, Eubank states that he's not interested in Benn and wants Nunn and Toney! Bob Arum then said Eubank would make Nunn and Toney look bad and reduce future PPV sales if they beat him, so wasn't interested in Eubank.

 

A tad overatted I think.

Some dodgy decisions he was on the receiving end up and I dont think he has a defining fight like McClellan, who was a top P4Per. Did Eubank ever fight a P4Per (and win)?

Shouldnt attempted to move away from the WBO also.

Probably my favourite boxer. He had a great chin, good power and great heart. Exciting fighter, and his second fight with Watson is one of the most dramatic bouts I've ever seen. Totally tragic, but a phenomenal fight. He's one of the best British boxers ever, and you can't love Benn so much, and give him so much credit, then give Eubank next to none.

Early on he played with both. Didn't take a punch in the first rounds.

He did have the longest unbeaten run before he lost, '85 to '95 and 43 fights were both the longest runs in boxing at that time.
