The fight shouldn't have been close without the deductions imo. I scored it to Miranda by 5 points without the deductions so I could see how it was close with them but not without them. I don't remember my round by round scores but I'm sure that was with scoring one round even and there was a case for giving some 10-8 to Miranda they were so one sided.
hmmm, maybe i'll have to rescore it myself. i had arthur ahead without the deductions as well. I just didn't feel miranda was hitting him with much of anything. swinging wildly yes, but abraham, though very timid after the break was picking his spots and landing the cleaner shots. let's be honest: with a broken jaw THAT bad miranda only needed to land a few clean blows to end it. he couldn't do it
I thought 2 deductions were fair,2 were not. Regardles it was Mirnada's fault for going low in the fight. Abraham was winning the fight till he got his jaw broken though. I had him up 112-111.Mirnada lost the ifght.Abraham showed balls of iron.
I voted taylor by UD but I'm thinking he might be able to stop AA late. There isn't much of a chance for a AA decision so I guess everyone picking him is betting on Taylor fading down the stretch. it seems likely but I'm hoping Taylor puts it all together for another run. Too fast, too big, too strong, just a better boxer all around.
What I would say is that Miranda could easily have been disqualified for the headbutt and I agree that Abraham did show balls of iron to keep fighting. I thought some of the scoring may have reflected the fact that Miranda could have been dq'd and that may have made the judges more sympathetic to Abraham. Also it would have been at least as controversial if Miranda had won after that. It is a while since I last watched it so I can't really dig in and argue too much about it, just say that from my recollection Miranda should have won. I've never seen the fight with English commentary and that's the only language I speak. Every time the ref took a point from Miranda my reaction was "wtf", maybe the commentary would have explained it better but it can influence you the other way too. The blows didn't look low to me, but I didn't see replays from different angles and all that.
Reach is so important, but Arthur can be dammed fast punching when he exploads..... I think he will start coming on in the thrid round, and be hard to hit. Talor has many advantages but I'm an Arthur fan...win or lose. Hell I was a Patterson fan...so what do I know.

It's definately going to be a good fight, because you know what you're going to see throughout the fight, and that's at points Taylor boxing well, and then having to take shots and show heart when Abraham let's his hands go, but you don't know how it's going to end. Will Taylor be able to pace himself and coast to a decision? Or will Abraham wear him down and stop him if & when Taylor gasses?
Very interesting fight! The boxer/puncher against the pure slugger. I'm guessing Taylor wins the first four rounds, perhaps even easily, but as he starts to tire, Abraham comes on and from the 9th, Taylor is mostly hanging on until he gets stopped a few rounds later...
Its very telling that Abraham has absolutely ZERO votes for winning by decision. I think that is the most clear thing about this fight...and thats, if Jermain is on his feet when the final bell tolls, he is going to win. Whether its with Abraham on his own feet or on his back...that is neither here nor there. Fact is, he cant outbox Taylor. That all said, I picked Arthur to win by stoppage...as Taylor has shown that staying on his feet until the end can sometimes be a task in and of itself. I think he outboxes Abraham for the first 6 or 7 clearly...but punches himself out in route to getting stopped by the fighter I think is the biggest puncher (regardless if he hasnt fought at SMW) in the tourney.
How did you all get brainwashed in to thinking Abraham was any good ? he beats an overerated miranda twice and suddenly he can live with the likes of taylor ? abraham fans are in for the shock of their lives in this one, easy taylor victory tko/ko after a dominant performance.
