The question is,how do you think mayweather would have done against any of these prime welterweights around that great welterweight era and if floyd would have moved up to welterweight around 2000 and fought any of them, would we be still talking about him now?.

Floyd has great skills, but he would never be great, until he fights mosley or williams, but i believe cotto, clottey, berto, pacquaio and even collazo would give mayweather a very tough challenge.

I believe floyd is a great fighter with unmatched skills and talent, but until he stops picking on smaller opponents and stop making excuses, because he's in a division where there's alot of talent and if floyd cleans out the division by beating the winner out of berto/mosley or pacman/cotto.

They should make a super 6 welterweight tournament featuring mosley, cotto, berto, mayweather, pacquaio and clottey, just imagine how much buzz that would bring.

Well there's no way he could fight all these guys and remain undefeated...but to be honest I'm not sure Leonard would either.

I see him beating Trinidad and Quartey, but having a real tough time with the other 3. Forrest in particular could be a real tough fight.

This thread is a little biased though because Floyd isn't a great WW. We don't judge Leonard at MW/SMW and we don't judge Duran at LMW/MW.

Floyd was at his best at SFW IMO, you'll be hard pressed to find many fighters throughout history who would beat him H2H there!!!

One who I could see being a challenge for Floyd is Vernon Forrest. Everybody else loses, even though you have give trinidad a puncher's chance because of his tremendous left hook. He already beat Oscar. Floyd has beaten plenty of larger fighters. 40-0.

Floyd beats all of them decisively, except for prime Oscar. At age 34, Oscar came very close to beating Floyd (I scored it 115-113 for Oscar). In his prime, Oscar threw "punches in bunches", and he did it with amazing speed. Floyd is great at dodging punches, but if you throw 3 or 4 of them quickly, he can't dodge all of them. That's how Taylor and Calzaghe beat Hopkins (who is basically a LHW version of Floyd).

Prime Mosley had the handspeed but not the reach or in-out movement. Forrest would have been helpless because Floyd fight him on the inside all night.

Trinidad and Quartey are too predictable, would have been sitting ducks.

I think they'd all beat PBF at 147. When you think that an old Oscar was beating Floyd when he used his jab in the first half of the fight, you can only imagine what a prime Quartey could have done with his ramrod jab. Trinidad could win by KO or UD. His boxing skills are underrated. People forget that he won almost by shutout against defensive master Pernell, landing with a very high connect %age and breaking PW's jaw in the process.

Floyd hasn't done much at all at 147, other than grab a belt from one of the weakest ever titlists. It clearly is not his weight, but he does not seem prepared to drop back down, instead making smaller fighters come up. Very poor from someone with a claim to the P4P title.

He loses to Forrest, and most probably De La Hoya. He would definately struggle a bit with a prime Quartey's jab aswell, but would probably come through.

trinidad would ko mayweather. Pernell is a defensive genius that didnt just go in a philly shell he made u miss. The old coked up Sweet pea that Trinidad beat is harder to hit than mayweather. Mayweather is not active enough to beat any of these fighters in their prime.
he hasnt even beat any of the current welters now.

why do you guys keep saying he needs to stop picking on smaller fighters.

...bout time some one jumps and challenges him. As far as ricky Hatton he was at 140 his entire career floyd started at 130 and was never a true welterweight to begin with can you guys please stop playing the same old tune its broken....god damn every ****ing day the same ****...thats why I dont even post on here much anymore.

Floyd is already a great fighter....he will fight COTTO, and Mosley and Pacquaio he has no choice there can only be one guy thats that dude per weight class and I dont see any of them leaving. Mayweather beats Trinidad and ODLH in close fights, I personally thinks he'd have more trouble with Ike Quartey....power, great jab, heart and strength, skills and good hand speed.

Trinidad and Mosley put a beatdown on May. Forrest would outbox him for sure. Mayweather has a shot at DLH and Quartey.

Floyd does not need old, shot Mosley to be great. lol Obviously, he already is. Adding this version of Mosley means ****.

How would one dimensional Trinidad beatdown PBF yet Oscar would have a tough time? Trinidad would look like a fool against PBF.

Styles. I dont see Trinidad ever losing to any fighter that is that much smaller than him like Mayweather. On the other hand, DLH has shown to have trouble against smaller defensive fighters like in the Whitaker fight.
