It's now really over for this guy.
First he lost a UD against a guy named Ernie Marquez and now he got ko'd!

It's official, from the 3 Cuban gold medallist guys from 2004, 2 are left.

I wonder what Yan is going to do now:huh Back to Cuba?

    Damn..

That's sad. But without any kind of power, it became clear after a few fights he's always going to struggle. Here's Dan Rafael's piece:

Junior featherweight Jorge Diaz (10-0, 6 KOs), a Jersey City product with tremendous crowd support, gave the fans something to cheer as he put Yan Barthelemy (8-2, 1 KO) to sleep with a massive left hook at 1:07 of the sixth and final round.

Diaz is managed by Pat Lynch, the career-long manager of the late Arturo Gatti, and he showed a bit of Gatti's flair for the dramatic. Diaz also considered Gatti an idol and is trained by longtime Gatti assistant trainer Mikey Skowronski.

Barthelemy, a 2004 Cuban Olympic gold medalist who defected and turned pro in 2007, had Diaz in some trouble in the fourth round. But Diaz, like Gatti did so many times, turned it around. He was unloading combinations on Barthelemy in the sixth round when he suddenly caught him on the chin with the left hand. Barthelemy fell face-first to the canvas and was out, sending the crowd into a standing ovation.

Yes indeed. But it's still a bit shocking to me considering Yan was an AMAZING amateur.

I never had faith in Barthelemy, that first loss to a nobody was an omen.

Two things: Barthelemy was a late replacement and I wonder if anybody knows if he was in shape or not. It was a high and stupid risk he took, against an undefeated fighter, who was trainning even with Juanma Lopez, therefore at the highest level. Probably he wanted that much to take part on the same card as his two countrymen, Gamboa and Solis, with whom he defected from Cuba two years ago. Second I read reports about he was defeating Diaz before the fight got stopped in just the last round.

Never, I saw Barthelemy fight a lot of times back in Cuba, he always seemed weak to me.

When I seen his hairline, I told a friend of mine that he'll be the first to fall...

I too knew he was gonna be the first to fall. Besides that, he is not gonna achieve anything.

Here some additional info that I found on the web:

New Brunswick based Super Bantamweight Jorge Diaz is taking a sizable step up in competition to challenge 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Yan Barthelemy on tomorrow’s Latin Fury card from Madison Square Garden. Diaz, 9-0 (6 KO’s), has been impressive of late, most recently dominating Guadalupe De Leon at the very same venue in May.

Barthelemy, a Miami based Cuban, holds a 8-1 professional record with 1 knockout and is moving up from Bantamweight. Barthelemy won his last two bouts since a shocking defeat to unheralded Ernie Marquez.
It’s a good fight for Jorge”, said Diaz’ trainer Mike Skowronski. “He was a good amateur but so was Jorge. Jorge was in camp with Juanma (WBO Super Bantamweight champion Juan Manuel) Lopez and sparred with a lot of good lefties so this was the right fight. Barthelemy is a smaller guy and this (fight) will show us what Jorge has.”
The Diaz-Barthelemy fight is taking place off-TV.
